The Sunrise Fellowship for Global Debate

Sunrise International Education is a social enterprise devoted to promoting global education reform and
international engagement. We are the biggest provider of extracurricular enrichment in China, and have been
recognized inside and outside China for our role in fostering critical thinking and civic values in a new
generation of Chinese. We are currently seeking program fellows to work on and advance the missions of our
National High School Debate League of China (NHSDLC) and Alliance for Global Debate (AGD) programs.
Our Philosophy
Extracurriculars activities are the unsung heroes of American education: they have imparted generations of
Americans with the skills and confidences to excel in the classroom and beyond. They are among the few forms
of education that foster critical thinking, civic mindedness, an innovative spirit and leadership. These are the
crucial traits every society needs to thrive. Most importantly, extracurriculars drive on the passion they inspire
in students. We believe that in an era of increasing standardized testing the key to social empowerment lies
outside the classroom altogether in extracurriculars.
What We Do
Sunrise operates in countries where theres a society-wide recognition that overly-standardized education isnt
serving their youths future. We are based in Beijing, China, and run leagues and tournaments in every province
across China, as well as in South Korea, Japan and Singapore. We travel to local communities, give public
lectures to generate interest, conduct school training, and finally return to host tournaments and large-scale
events. Through this basic form we nurture grassroots communities of student involvement in our
extracurriculars, and begin a process of social empowerment for the next generation. For more information see
