The Wedding Party

Jocelyn & Ryan

In July 2004, Jocelyn was a bartender at Maddhatters. She
worked with many of her best friends, including Stacey,
Jenn, Kari, Norman and Brent. In fact, Norm was her
manager. While working, Ryan came into the bar and asked
Jocelyn on a date. Of course, she said "no." However, he
was persistent and eventually she broke down and agreed
to go for sushi.
They had a spicy summer relationship while Ryan
recuperated from a blown knee and Jocelyn saved money to
return to University. At the end of the summer, Ryan moved
back to New York and Jocelyn moved back to Victoria and
that was the end of the couple for several years....everyone
knew Ryan was heartbroken.
As time passed, Ryan travelled the world with his skiing,
earning several world cup medals for Canada. Jocelyn also
spent some time traveling through SE Asia, Australia and
central America before graduating from Law School in 2008.

While articling in 2009, Jocelyn was working diligently on a

Sunday when Ryan kept popping on and off of MSN
Messenger. Eventually, she told him to go away and he
instead convinced her to visit him in Sylvan Lake. She
gathered up some girlfriends - Andrea and Wendy Prusak
(Pugh) - and went to rekindle the love.
After a weekend at Wookies (our Emcee) cabin, Ryan and
Jocelyn started dating long distance - mostly via Skype! He
would come visit her in Edmonton during his breaks from
training/competition. In 2010, they took 6 weeks off work
and went traveling through Europe before moving to
Grande Prairie where they decided to make their home.
They now have a wonderful little family which includes two
dog children - Isabella Bean and Dmitri. Ryan asked Jocelyn
to marry him on July 21, 2013 while hiking in Jasper with
the dog children. Jocelyn said thank-you, followed by
yes, a few minutes later. So it begins...
