Bus Bar Calulation for Main Bus Bar (2500Amp.

)
Current Calculation
For calculation of the A.C. carrying capacity for Copper is 1.5A/mm2
Size of the Bus Bar (mm X mm) =2 X 125 X10
Sectional Area = 2500mm2
so, the current carrying capacity is =

3750 Amp.

Fault Level Calculation of Bus bar (40 kA for 3 Sec.)

For better safety in case of temperature rise, if we consider 100C rise for the temperature of 70C
then we can use the formula:(I/A) x t = 0.122 for Copper and (I/A) x t = 0.0775 for Aluminium
or
A=I x t / 0.122
Where, I = Short Circuit Current (kA)
A = Sectional Area of Conductor (mm2 )
t = Time (Sec.)
By putting the value in Above formula we get,
(I/A) =
0.122
A=
567.87
The cross-section area of busbar we are using is more than required as it is 2500 Sq. mm
Temperature Factor
The bus bar system give are at 35 deg. C. but the ambient temperature is 50 deg. C.
so the deration factor due to temperature is : (T2/T1)

0.588

Where T1 = Temperaure at the site of Installation

T2 = Ambient temperature of the bus bar manufacturer
