NOTE: For NCLEX type questions it is understood that you are in a facility that is clean & safe,

adequately staffed, and you have all the required supplies and equipment. Unless noted in the
question (the machine is broken) you will assume that you have everything you need do not
read any more into the question. There will always be at least 2 correct answers. It is unusual for all
answers to be correct.

SATA QUESTIONS:

Example 1 (Thanks Ulana!)

An 8 year-old client is admitted to the hospital for surgery. The childs parent reports the allergies listed
below. Which of these allergies should all health care personnel be aware of? Select all that apply:
A) Shellfish
C) Balloons
B) Molds
D) Perfumed soap
E) Alcohol
First Identify the topic: Allergies that may have an affect on care from ALL HCPs. All is the clue
word. All the answers may be correct in a sense but you need to answer only what the question asks!!
Second: Apply true (yes) & false (no) to the answers:
You can eliminate Molds and Perfumed soap right away as it is obvious they wont apply to all HCP.
Remember this is a perfect facility and your HCPs are not moldy or all smelly pretty.
C) Balloons
A) Shellfish
D) Perfumed soap
B) Molds
E) Alcohol
Shellfish Actually false Not all HCPs will have to be aware or watchful of this item. The RT, FT, or UAP
will unlikely encounter any shellfish/iodine related items or do any iodine applications. Lab/Surg techs,
the Doc, and nurses, should note the shellfish allergy as related to lab/diagnostic tests that may require
an iodine type contrast or betadine type wash for wounds or surgery but other personnel wont need
to be concerned. The key would it still ALL HCP.
C) Balloons
A) Shellfish
D) Perfumed soap
B) Molds
E) Alcohol
Balloons Many balloons are made of latex and the one thing that ALL HCP do is don gloves!! (I know
that some balloons are not latex, but in general when you think balloon, you think latex) Balloons is
a correct answer.
Alcohol ALL facilities use a form of waterless hand cleaner and MOST contain Alcohol. Using the
assumption that this is a perfect facility, the waterless hand cleaner is available and used by HCP.
Alcohol is a correct answer.

ORDER QUESTIONS:

Close your eyes, if you need to, and run through the procedure or sequence in your head.
See yourself doing the items in sequence. If you have to turn around or go back for anything, the item
is in the wrong order.
Review skill sets for any procedure noted in the content guide outline or related to the
disorder/diagnosis This is another reason we suggest that you review a care plan associated with the
disorder.
Review medication setup and administration for items listed in the content guide outline.
