WANTED: PEOPLE OF VISION

Neh 1:4
4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned
certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
KJV
Commentary Thought:
1If we understand the contexts of (Neh.1) you understand that Nebuchadnezzar and the armies
of Babylon had invaded Israel and had carried many of the people away as slaves.
2 Babylon had destroyed Jerusalems walls and gates of the temple.. The walls and gates of
the temple needed to be rebuild.
3 According to (Ezra 1-6) we find twenty years later, the temple was not completed, the gates
and walls were not repaired. (You see without people of vision, nothing gets done, we find
ourselves twenty years down the road in the same place with nothing accomplished).
4 We understand that without the walls and gates, the city was open to the enemy.
(Listen, unless we are willing to see what needs to be done and do it, we are setting ducks for the
devil).
5 What Jerusalem needed was a man with a vision. Someone who would get up and begin
rebuilding the temple, someone who would get up and rebuild the walls and the gate of the city.
(This generation has the same need, men and women with a vision).
6 They needed help (Help Wanted). Nehemiah was the man. He was a leader with a vision, he
was a leader who cared enough to get involved. (Because he got involved, 50,000 Jews came
together to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem).
7... In this message we will see that Nehemiah cared enough to get involved.
He Cared Enough to Weep:
Neh 1:4
4 And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned
certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
KJV
1 Nehemiah spent several days fasting, weeping, and praying. (Church what is in front of us
now will take more than just a vision, it will take some weeping, praying, and fasting).
2 Nehemiah knew that somebody had to do something. (When I look at this generation, I fell
like Nehemiah, somebody has to do something).
3 Help wanted, somebody that will weep over what the enemy has done. (Somebody that is
willing to get up and do something).
4 When the Prophet Isaiah found himself in the presence of God he said in (Isa 6:8) as he
heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I,
Here am I; send me. (Are you willing in 2015 to say, here am I, send me).

He Cared Enough to Pray:

Neh 1:6
6 Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy
servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants,
and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and
my father's house have sinned.
KJV
1 You see it is obvious that Nehemiah is a man of faith who depended wholly on the Lord to
help him accomplish the work that God called him to do. (Anything worth doing is worth praying
about).
2 Help wanted, men and women who have a vision, men and women who will trust God, men
and women who will pray about what needs to be done.
He Cared Enough to Volunteer:
Neh 1:11
11 O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the
prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this
day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer.
KJV
1 Nehemiah was the Kings cupbearer, he was involved.
2 Nehemiah volunteered to go to Jerusalem to supervise the rebuilding of the walls.
3 He didnt pray for God to send somebody else, he simply volunteered by saying, Lord send
me. As the Kings cupbearer, he was willing to sacrifice the comfort and security of the kings
palace to go and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. (Everybody wants an office, but nobody wants to
leave kings palace and sacrifice to do the Lords work).
4 Because he was a man with a vision, a man willing to pray, a man willing to volunteer, with
Gods help he rebuild to walls in fifty- two days.
5 What could we get done in 2015 if we had people with a vision, if we had people that were
willing to trust God and pray, if we had people who were willing to volunteer.
Conclusion:
1 Abraham cared and recused Lot from Sodom (Ge.18-19).
2 Moses cared and delivered the Israelites from Egypt.
3 David cared and brought the nation and the kingdom back to God.
4 Esther cared and risked her life to save her nation.
5 Paul cared and took the gospel thought out the Roman Empire.
6 Jesus cared and died on the cross for a lost world.
7 God is looking for people who care, people like Nehemiah, who cares enough to pray for
Gods help, and volunteer to get the job done.
