A New Year is here!

Burrrrr!! Cold weather is here, but
things are heating up here at the church. I
am so excited about Children’s Church
and all the opportunities it will bring us
as a church family. Big thanks to
everyone helping in this endeavor. You
all mean the world to me!!
The new year brings about a chance of
reflection, as well as a chance to move
forward. I thank God for all the blessings
we received in 2009, especially all the
lives we have seen saved. I am thankful
for all the new families God has brought
us recently. I know 2010 is going to be
even better. If we stand in one mind and
one accord, and believe that God ca do
great things. He will!!!!!!!! Begin today
praying that God will move in a mighty
way. “Ask and you shall receive. Seek
and you shall find. Knock and the door
shall be opened unto you.

Deacon’s Ministry
What does the “New Year” actually
mean? I think people are looking back
over the previous year resolving to do
better the next time around. Without
Jesus this would not be possible. We all
want a renewed hope for a better
tomorrow, but there’s only one way,
through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
Please pray for our ministry at Second
Baptist Church as we reach out to the
community offering new programs for a
New Year.

It is always a good time to study the Bible
so you can live a better life, and prepare
yourself with knowledge to help others in
need. Join us each Sunday for lessons and
study time in Sunday School. You’ll get
a blessing and increase your knowledge
of the Bible.

Happy New Year! Hard to believe isn’t

Christmas float, lead the choir, worked

Musical Notes

Welcome to the New Year! The choir
took off a few weeks of practice after our
Christmas presentation. We will
hopefully resume practice this week and
begin some new songs. It won’t be long
before we begin practice for our Easter
presentation, as Easter comes the first
Sunday in April this year. We encourage
anyone wishing to praise the Lord
through song, to join the choir. We look
forward to seeing new members this year.

Ladies Discipleship Training

On January 23 beginning at 10:00am
our church will host a Ladies Conference
entitled “New Year...New You.” Our
guest speaker will be Ms. Jan Morris.
Testimony will be given by Ms. Rachel
Turney and our Praise & Worship leader
will be Ms. Judy Stocks. In order to get a
court for lunch, we need to know how
many will be attending by January 18th.
Please let me know if you are planning to
attend and how many guests you will be
bringing. There is no charge but we will
take a love offering to help with the
expenses. There is a flyer attached to the
Newsletter. Ladies, please join us, you
will receive a blessing like no other.

The Puppet Place
The puppeteers are: LeAnn Kelley, Zeb
Baird, Austin Bryant, Courtney Bryant,
Jessica Hallman, Brandon Adams, Kaddy
Kemp, Morgan Varner, and Karen
Varner. Myles Varner is our Sound Man.
We’re practicing for yet another program.
Just watch for the announcement! Until
then, keep us in your prayers.

Church Fund Raiser
“Play Ground Project”
We’re still asking for your help in raising
the funds necessary to build a
“Playground” at our church.
Our goal is $3,000.00
The church will be accepting “tax”
deductible donations. Just see any
Deacon, the Pastor, or Ms. Linda Palmer
to make your donations.
And we still have those traditional Cook
Books to sell. We are encouraging our
members to “sign out” and sell a number
of Cook Books to help with the fund
raising. Please call Brooke Baird, who
has been elected the Director of the Play
Ground Project, at 249-3910, to help
with this much needed fund raiser.

Business Meetings
Business meetings are held the second
Monday of every month at 6:00 pm.
Please bring a covered dish for supper
and fellowship before the meeting.
The next meeting is Monday, January
11th.
Yoder’s Family Traditions
Debe Hooley from Yoder’s Family
Traditions and Gifts is offering various
craft classes at her shop. We encourage
you to stop by and visit Debe. See her
collection of unique jams and jellies and
much more. Call Debe at 245-7345
Neighborhood Watch
The monthly meeting for the Community
Neighborhood Watch is held on the 3rd
Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm in the
Weogufka School Lunchroom. All area
residents are invited to attend. Just bring
a covered dish for supper.

Story Time, Poems, Articles
I am me! In all the world, there is no one
exactly like me.
Everything that comes out of me is
authentically mine because I alone choose
it. I own everything about me. My body,
my feelings, my mouth, my voice, all my
actions, it’s me.
I own my fantasies, my dreams, my
hopes, my fears. I own all my successes,
failures and mistakes.
Because I own all of me, I can become
personally acquainted with ME. By
doing this, I can love me and be friendly
with me.
I know there are things about me that
puzzle me, but as long as I am friendly
and loving to myself, I can courageously
and hopefully look for solutions to the
failures in me. How ever I look or sound,
whatever I say and do, whatever I think
and feel at any given moment is
authentically me!
If sometimes the way I look or sound turn
out to be unfitting, I can discard that
which is unfitting, keep the rest, and
invent something new for me.
I can see, hear, feel, think, say and do...I
have the will to survive, to choose to be
close to others, to work and to make
sense and order out of the world of
people and things outside of me. I own
me and for what that is worth I love me
and I AM OKAY because God made me!
