Breakfast Leaders Attend Seminar

On September 15, 2012, the
BCBP Mactan Breakfast team led
by the Mission Director Tex Bulambot and Breakfast Head Leo
Legara attended the Breakfast
Team Seminar conducted by the
BCBP South at the Sacred Heart
Center. The highlights of the
seminar were the breakfast format, the breakfast sharing, and
the scripture response and closing prayer.
Bro. Boy Villanueva emphasized that the breakfast is unique
to BCBP and serves as the show
window of BCBPs selective evangelization. It is a required activity
for every chapter with at least

three mens breakfasts in a

month. There shall be no cancellation except during Holy Week,
Christmas and New Year depending on the Chapter Head if
he decides to have a break.
As a whole, mens breakfast
is a major activity of the chapter.
BCBP cant exist without it. It
emphasizes the importance of
evangelizing men in the marketplace. And every member of the
breakfast team, from the mission
director to the greeters, has a
very important role to play. Just
like the cast and crew in an opera, every act must be haunting,

happy, fulfilled and most of all,
wanting to come back for the
next breakfast meeting.

Teaching Mary Mother of God : Marys Part in Jesus Infancy

Fr. Martin Okafor-Ilozue CSSp - BCBP Mactan BCLP19

Fr. Martin

The Fall of Man

Adam and Eve are tempted and disobeyed God by constituting themselves
arbiters of what is good and evil; they have usurped the divine privilege and
sinned. (Gen. 2:16-17)
Mankind falls from the pinnacle of Grace and will need to be redeemed.
The First Promise of the Redeemer
Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign; the virgin shall be with child
and bear a Son and shall name him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)
Announcement of the Birth of Jesus
The angels greetings to Mary - Rejoice, O highly favored daughter! The Lord
is with you. Blessed are you among women. (Luke 1:29)
Then the invitation, do not fear, Mary, you have found favor with God. You
shall conceive and bear a son and give him the name Jesus. (Luke 1;30-31)
Marys Consent
I am the servant of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you say. (Luke 1:38).
Once Gods plan was made clear to Mary, she freely gave her consent in an act
of humble faith and loving obedience. Her free agreement in faith to be the
Redeemers mother expresses her willingness to play her part in the redemption of mankind.
The Birth of Jesus
The nativity of Jesus occurs in a setting of poverty, which by design seems to
call attention to the reality of the childs humanity. The promise made by God
(Gen 2:16-17), has become a reality. She gave birth to her first-born son,
wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was
no room for them in the place where travelers lodge. (Luke 2:7).
Presentation in the Temple
Every first-born male shall be consecrated to the Lord. (Luke 2:23) Jesus, the
first-born and only child, was brought to temple for the customary ritual of the
law. There, in the temple, was a man named Simeon who, upon seeing Mary,
prophesied and said to her, And you yourself shall be pierced with a sword so
that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare. (Luke 2:35)
The Finding in the Temple
Why did you search for me? Did you know I had to be in my Fathers house?
But they did not grasp what he said to them. (Luke 2:49-50) His mother
meanwhile kept all these things in memory.
Mary was not exempted from living by faith, and this can well be indicated by
the words of Luke after they found Jesus in the temple, They did not grasp
what he said to them. Marys knowledge of her Sons mystery grew gradually a day-by-day growth in understanding, up to the time of his crucifixion and
resurrection.

Morning is a new leaf in the book of our life. Spend the day productively and never let our problems
ruin our day. Enjoy the day with the Lord

Teaching

The Church We Belong

Fr. Martin Okafor-Ilozue CSSp - BCBP Mactan BCLP19

Fr. Martin

As members of this
body of Christ, the
Church, how do you
see yourself? A
spectator or among
the players?

The 2nd Vatican council described the Church as the people that gathered, comprising of different functions in which all are collectively referred to as people of
God. Rightly so that is what we are, children of one Father in Heaven. We have
beautiful churches all over the places but none of the buildings is the Church, for they
are all symbols, the Church is the people that gather. In the light of this understanding,
the positions that we have in the Church do not necessarily mean that one is greater
than the other. I t is just that different functions have to be performed in different
capacities. Even though we shared the common priesthood of Christ that made us all
in the first place members of this Church, but some of us were called to higher functions for the unity and ministering to the people that gathered and hence, we have the
ordained priesthood from which came different offices, the Pope, Bishops, priests and
deacons. St. Paul will refer to this assembly as one body with different functions with
Christ as the head of the body. In the Church we have different organs, organ of unity
that resides in the Pope, hierarchy that goes with the bishops, the ministering that is
associated with the priests and deacons and the lay with different callings to make up
the one Body of Christ. All members therefore, play different roles for the good of
the whole Church.
The church is there to mediate God to the world, to creation and to all humanity,
helping the world to align according to Gods plan, to sanctify and transform through
the ministries of the ordained and prayers of the lay faithful(Monsignor Kriekenbeek).
This mediation is possible because of His incarnate son, Jesus Christ, who is the word
that became flesh and in turn, Christs grace became incarnate in the world through
the Church, the body of Christ. (John 1: 14 15).
As members of this body of Christ, the Church, how do you see yourself? A spectator or among the players? Belonging to the body of Christ comes with a responsibility to make the Church known everywhere, work for it in service for salvation of
oneself and others in order to build up the kingdom of God here on earth. To do this,
we have to make the Church our own and not those of others like the Pope, Bishops
etc, but to each and everyone us. That was what led the martyrs to die for the good
of the Church, inspired holy men and women of all ages to live good and holy lives
and pushed people to offer various services to make the Church alive and valuable in
our lives today. The Church animates us to bring about life of grace in people, a dynamic encounter of God and humanity of grace and freedom in family.
The choice is for us to make, not just to be passively in the Church but actively
working for its growth and living the exemplary life that Christ wanted us to live.
Remember the Church was once described as the abode of sinners and so still today.
Let us make use of the sacramental life of the Church in making ourselves holy and
being of service to our brothers and sisters.

Life becomes wonderful even if there are struggles and difficulties because we have a loving God
who heals the pain and keep us going

Chapter Heads Message

Whoever is not Against Us is for Us

CH Guy and Eden Ceniza

Time flies fast. Entering the 3rd quarter of

2012 is like looking for
ward to next year. Was
2012 too long to get
over? Personally not.
The inability to come
up with an annual calendar of activities due to
very limited time and the
initial hesitation of the
invited servants somehow frightened me and I
believe the rest of the
governance team. Where
shall we be heading? was the question that
lingered in our minds
then.
But here we are
reaching this far. All of us
contributed to achieve
our common goal in
strengthening our Christian community life thru

the mission and vision of

BCBP. Scripture says:
Whoever is not against
us is for us which can
affirm why we are still
here in spite of the concerns we had when we
took over the shepherding responsibilities of our
community few months
ago.
The remaining months
for this year would be
very busy for us. All
servant leaders will be
briefed of their roles and
responsibilities and will
be equipped of the basics
before assuming their
roles. Hopefully this will
correct the lapses in the
past and align ourselves
to the guidelines set
forth in our new manual.
The responsibility that
lies ahead is still great

but things wouldnt be

that hard as long as we
will open ourselves to
changes, not for ourselves but also for our
community and society
in general.
As what Fr. Jerry
Orbos wrote in THE
WORD in other words
that says The journey is
not about going far and
fast. The journey is going to the heart - to
Gods heart, to peoples
heart, and ones own
heart.
Let us be counted
and be a change agent in
the market place where
our Lord calls us. Just
remember the Lords
promise, Go, I will be
with you.
