features him on lead vocal, guitar, and "vocal bass". In the Philippines, it was released by Apple as the bside of the "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da" single in 1968. It was one of the songs worked on by the Beatles and their

in India, and remained unfinished even as recording began back in London.

with her. Although the theme is ageing, it was one of the first songs McCartney wrote, when he was only 16. It
was on the Beatles playlist in their early days as a song to perform when the amplifiers broke down or the
electricity went off. Both George Martin and Mark Lewisohn speculated that McCartney may have thought of
the song when recording began for Sgt. Pepper in December 1966 because his father turned 64 earlier that
year.

Lennon. It was recorded on 21 and 22 October 1965. "Nowhere Man" is among the very first Beatles songs to
be entirely unrelated to romance or love, and marks a notable instance of Lennon's philosophically oriented
songwriting. It was released as a single on 21 February 1966, and reached #1 in Australia and Canada and #3
on the Billboard Hot 100. Lennon, McCartney and George Harrison sing the song in three-part harmony. The

on the second disc of the Past Masters compilation. The single reached number one in the United Kingdom,
the United States, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, France, West Germany, and Mexico. It was the
Beatles' only single that credited another artist at their request. "Get Back" was the Beatles' first single release
in true stereo in the US. In the UK, the Beatles' singles remained monaural until the following release, "The
Ballad of John and Yoko".

segment of the Bourre(reharmonised into the original's relative major key of G) as the opening of
"Blackbird", and carried the musical idea throughout the song.
The first night his future wife Linda Eastman stayed at his home, McCartney played "Blackbird" for the fans
camped outside his house.
