3. The VFD modules will be supplied in an ABB standard panel configuration and the switchgear as
per ABB recommendation chart only. The Protection class considered for the VFD panels is
IP42.The panels are free standing, Floor mounted type only with cable entry from Bottom.
4. It is our general intention to comply with the customers requirements except where specific
exceptions have been listed. However, the specification and performance of the equipment are
limited to those described in this quotation.
5. This ABB quotation provides only for the equipment and system performance as specified herein
and no other obligation of any kind shall extend thereto or be implied there-from.
6. ABB follows a policy of continual improvement of design and we must therefore reserve the right
to supply equipment differing in detail from that described herein.

1. Start up assistant
The assistant guides the user through the start up procedure, helping the user to feed the requested data
(parameter values ) to the drive. The assistant also checks the entered values are valid i.e within the
allowed range.
The start up assistant is divided into tasks. The user may activate the tasks either one after the other as the
start up assistant suggests, or independently.
2. Adaptive programming
Conventionally, the user can control the operation of the drive by parameters. The parameters make the
programming easy, but the choices are limited. The adaptive program makes freer customizing possible
without the need of a special programming tool or language.
3. Acceleration/Deceleration
ACS 850 provides two user-selectable acceleration and deceleration ramps. It is possible to adjust the
acceleration/ deceleration times (0 to 1800 s) and select the ramp shape. Switching between the two
ramps can be controlled via a digital input.
The available ramp shape alternatives are:
Linear: Suitable for drives requiring steady or slow acceleration/ deceleration.
S1: Suitable for acc./dec. times less than one second.
S2: Suitable for acc./dec. times less than 1.5 seconds.
S3: Suitable for acc./dec. times up to 15 seconds.
S-curve ramps are ideal for conveyors carrying fragile loads, or other applications where a smooth
transition is required when changing from one speed to another.
4. Static and Dynamic Accuracies
Please note that the Static Speed Accuracy offered by ACS 850 is 0.1 to 0.5%(1/10 th of the slip) in open
loop and dynamic speed accuracy of 0.4% sec at 100% load step in open loop.

5. Frequency Resolution.
Please note that the Frequency Resolution offered by ACS 850 is 0.01 Hz.

6. Inputs/Outputs
Please note that ACS 850 has 3 Programmable analog inputs, Two programmable analog outputs, Three
programmable relay outputs and seven programmable digital inputs.
In addition to the above, for interfacing with the PLC/DCS, a host of Interface Modules are offered as an
option. We request you to let us know the protocol required for the same.
7.0 Power Loss Ride Through.
If the incoming supply voltage is cut off, the ACS 850 will continue to operate
by utilizing the kinetic energy of the rotating motor. The ACS 850 will be fully operational as long as the
motor rotates and generates energy to the ACS 850.
8.0 Automatic Start
The Automatic Start feature of the ACS 850 outperforms the flying start and ramp start features normally
found in frequency converters. Because ACS 850 can detect the state of the motor within a few
milliseconds, starting is immediate under all conditions. There is no restart delay.
9.0 Flux Optimization
Flux Optimization of the ACS 850 reduces the total energy consumption and motor noise level when the
drive operates below the nominal load. The total efficiency (motor and the drive) can be improved by 1 %
to 10 %, depending on the load torque and speed.
10.0 Critical Speed/Constant Speed Function
Critical Speeds :There is a Critical Speeds function available for applications where it is necessary to avoid
certain motor speeds or speed bands due to e.g. mechanical resonance problems.
The ACS 850 makes it possible to set up five different speeds or speed bands which will be avoided during
operation.
Each critical speed setting allows the user to define a low and a high speed limit.
If the speed reference signal requires the ACS 850 to operate within this speed range the Critical Speeds
function will keep the ACS 850 operating at the low (or high) limit until the reference is out of the critical
speed range. The motor is accelerated/decelerated through the critical speed band according to the
acceleration or deceleration ramp.
Constant Speeds : In the ACS 850 it is possible to predefine 15 constant speeds. Constant speeds are
selected with digital inputs. Constant speed activation overrides the external speed reference.

11.0 Accurate Speed/Torque Control

Accurate Speed Control :The static speed control error is typically + 0.1% to + 0.5 % of motor nominal
speed, which satisfies most industrial applications. If even more precise speed regulation is required, a
pulse encoder can be connected. With a pulse encoder, the static speed control error is typically 0.01% of
motor nominal speed.

The dynamic speed control error is typically + 0.4 %sec. at 100 % load torque step without a pulse
encoder or tachogenerator. With a pulse encoder, dynamic speed control error is typically + 0.1 %sec.
Accurate Torque Control : The ACS 850 can perform precise torque control without any speed feedback
from the motor shaft. With torque rise time less than 5 ms at 100 % torque reference step compared to
over 100 milliseconds in frequency converters using sensorless flux vector control, the ACS 850 is
unbeatable.
By applying a torque reference instead of a speed reference, the ACS 850 will maintain a specific motor
torque value; the speed will adjust automatically to maintain the required torque.
12.0 DC Magnetizing
When DC Magnetizing is activated the ACS 850 automatically magnetises the motor before the start. This
feature guarantees the highest possible breakaway torque, even 200 % of motor nominal torque. By
adjusting the premagnetising time, it is possible to fix the motor start with a mechanical brake release, for
example. The Automatic Start feature and DC Magnetizing cannot be activated at the same time.
13.0 Speed Controller Tuning
During the motor identification run the ACS 850 speed controller is automatically tuned. However, it is
possible to manually adjust the controller gain, integration time and derivation time, or let the ACS 850
perform a separate speed controller Autotune Run. In Autotune Run, the motor is driven through a series
of movements and the speed controller is tuned based on the load and inertia of the motor and the
machine.
14.0 Fault Diagnostic
The Fault History contains information on five most recent faults detected by the the ACS 850. Faults are
displayed in words along with the elapsed time of the fault from the commissioning.

14 . DC hold
By activating the motor DC hold feature it is possible to lock the rotor at zero speed. When both the
reference and the motor speed fall below the preset DC hold speed, the drive stops the motor and starts to
inject DC into the motor. When the reference speed again exceeds the DC hold speed , the normal drive
operation resumes.
15.0 CONSTRUCTION DETAILS OF PANELS
15.1 Please note that all the panels shall be Free Standing, Floor Mounted, Dead Rear type. All the load
bearing members shall be 2.0mm thickness sheet steel and all non-load bearing members shall be 1.6 mm
thickness. All the panels shall be dust and vermin proof with IP42 protection.
15.2 The cable entry shall be from bottom only. Suitable removable gland plate shall be provided.
However all type of cable glands shall not be in our scope of supply.

Please note that all busbars, wherever used shall be of copper material only.
Terminations shall be ferruled and properly numbered.

PRICES:
The quoted prices are net and firm and on delivery as below. Hence, kindly indicate the same in your PO to
enable us to register your order with Excise Authorities.

FORCE MAJEURE:
If at any time during the continuance of this contract, the performance, in whole or in part, of any
obligation under this contract shall be prevented or delayed at our/ our sub-suppliers works by reasons by
any war (whether declared or otherwise), hostility, acts of the public enemy, civil commotion, sabotage,
fires, floods, explosives, earthquake, epidemics, quarantine restrictions, strikes, labour disputes, lockouts,
compliance with regulations, orders or instructions of any central, state or municipal government or
agencies thereof, inability to obtain material or sufficient electricity for full manufacturing operations, any
acts of God, then provided notice of the happening of any such eventuality is given by us to the purchaser
within a reasonable period of time from the date of eventuality, the suitable extension of delivery time
shall be granted by the purchaser.
EXCISE DUTY, SALES TAX AND OTHER LEVIES:
The prices quoted are exclusive of all taxes & Duties ( ED/ CST against Form C,), levies, Octroi etc., which

WARANTEE:
We shall repair or replace at our option, free of cost, on ex - works basis the whole or any portion of
material which under normal and proper use and maintenance proves defective in material and/or
workmanship within 18 months from the date of shipment of equipment or 12 month from the date of
commissioning. This warranty excludes consumables like fuses (semiconductor or HRC or glass), fragile
equipments like indicating lamps, indicating meters etc.
Limitation of Liability
Notwithstanding anything contained in this Contract to the contrary, we shall not be liable for any special,
indirect losses such as, but not limited to, loss of revenue, loss of use, loss of power, costs of capital or costs
of replacement power. Our liability does not extend to consequential damages either direct or indirect or
expenses for repair or replacements or otherwise paid or incurred without our authority
Suspension or Cancellation
In the event of work suspension, as a compensation, we will be reimbursed the costs, to the extent that
such costs directly result from such suspension and agreed mutually.
Commissioning
FREE lodging, Boarding & local Conveyance to be provided to engineers at site.
Validity
Our offer is valid for your acceptance till 30 days from the date of this commercial offer unless previously
withdrawn
