Leaky Bonnet? We have a fix for that...

Valve bonnet weld repair can be tricky business as the top of the bonnet makes reaching
into the lower bore where the stem packing sits very difficult. Try drawing a picture holding
the pencil on the eraser end and at arms' length. Not too bad? Now do it blindfolded. This
is the kind of challenge welding some of these small bores can pose.
Notice in the picture (top right) how the weld
torch must pass though the top of the bonnet to
the lower bore.
With the Climax BW3000 this weld can be made
with minimal effort and no discomfort or special
rotating turntable jigs.
Valve manufactuerers can also use this to
overlay corrosion and wear risistant alloys giving
their valves the edge over competitors or making
them more valuable to the end user.
Whether making new or repairing old, Climax
Portable Machining and Welding Systems can
put metal precisely where you need it. This
means less clean up in the machine shop, safer
operators and less wasted alloy.

What materials can I weld?

What gas should I use?
We understand not everyone is a materials scientist. Often we come across questions
about what materials can be welded and what materials will be difficult to weld. We also
hear many questions about gasses. Which gas to use with which material is not always
clear. Our experts have created a reference chart below. This is intended to be a
guideline for optimal performance. Often one can make do with a different gas or weld on
materials that are difficult. However higher levels of understanding and skill will be needed
to be successful outside of this guideline. Just because it is poor does not mean it can't
be done.
