B. Non-Academic Goals
What do you hope to achieve this year outside of the classroom?
C. Research Proposal
Curiosity and scholarship are hallmarks of Lombardi and Stamps Scholars. Please use this space to outline a research project
you hope to conduct during your time at UF. Why is this research important? It may, for example, fill a research need,
attempt to provide a practical solution to a vexing problem, or create an aesthetic work of art. Keep in mind that academic
research is not limited to the sciences; feel free to discuss ideas for projects in the humanities, journalism, business, the social
sciences, or fine arts.
Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.
- George Bernard Shaw
Provide an example of a time your assumptions were challenged, and tell us how you grew from that experience.
C. The debate about the point and promise of higher education is ongoing. What do you believe is the purpose of
attending university? What do you expect to gain from earning a college degree?
D. Any additional personal information you would like to share with the committee. You are strongly encouraged to
make use of this opportunity to tell us something more about yourself.
E. The nomination form and letter from your high school principal, guidance counselor, or an instructor. Only one letter
will be considered.
