C. Research Proposal
Curiosity and scholarship are hallmarks of Lombardi and Stamps Scholars. Please use this space to outline a research project
you hope to conduct during your time at UF. Why is this research important? It may, for example, fill a research need,
attempt to provide a practical solution to a vexing problem, or create an aesthetic work of art. Keep in mind that academic
research is not limited to the sciences; feel free to discuss ideas for projects in the humanities, journalism, business, the social
sciences, or fine arts.

PART 3: SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS


Please attach the following documents to your application. Responses should be written in a simple, direct style and be
limited to 250 words.
A. Central to the Lombardi-Stamps Scholarship Program are four summer enrichment experiences, beginning with five
weeks spent learning about the culture and ecology of the Yucatn region of Mexico. Students also participate in a
week-long Outward Bound leadership retreat and two additional study abroad trips, including one with an
international development focus. If you are selected as a Scholar, how do you think these experiences will contribute
to your future academic and professional goals?

C. The debate about the point and promise of higher education is ongoing. What do you believe is the purpose of

make use of this opportunity to tell us something more about yourself.
