M/S ICPL has called Compressor service engineer from

M/s Equipments & Spares Bangalore to rectify compressor
abnormal sound & abnormal air temperature.
M/s Equipments & Spares Bangalore sent Mr. Sreenath service
engineer & reached our site on 09.04.09 to rectify compressor No-2
(Sl No-20725376) problem. He has checked compressor-2 thoroughly,
compressor started & kept running. It has tripped after 20 minutes running
due to air temp high. Hence he has decided to open the compressor for
overhauling.
Compressor No-2 completely dismantled & following observations made.
1) It is observed that piston nut was loosened & hit to the frame end port
plate, in turn damaged port plate, piston & piston rod.
2) Deep groove found on piston & port plate.
3) Suction valve, 1 No seat plate & stop plate were damaged.

It was decided to replace piston, piston rod & port plate. Since the cogeneration running plant cannot be stopped. Hence above spares were
purchased from M/s Equipments & Spares Bangalore, same has been
overhauled & put in service.

period & system has been failed within the due course of
time. We request your good selves to send above spares in
free of cost since M/C is under warranty period. Since
commissioning we have requested you to send O/M manuals
& spare parts list, but till now we have not received the
same. Since ICPL is a regular customer of M/s Inger SollRand. Hence matter may be treated as most urgent.

M/S ICPL has called Compressor service engineer from

M/s Equipments & Spares Bangalore to rectify compressor-2

M/s Equipments & Spares Bangalore sent Mr.Sreenath service
engineer & reached our site on 09.04.09 to rectify compressor No-2 (Sl No20725376) problem. He has checked compressor-2 thoroughly, compressor
started & kept running. It has tripped after 20 minutes running, due to air
temp high. Hence he has decided to open the compressor-2 for complete
overhauling.
Compressor No-2 completely dismantled & following problems were
observed.
1) It is observed that piston nut was loosened & hit to frame end port
plate, in turn damaged port plate, piston & piston rod.
2) Play between piston & piston rod was found more than 3mm.
4) One side, slight scratch on cylinder.
5) Lot of scaling in cylinder water jacket.
6) Suction valve, 1 No seat plate & stop plate were damaged.
7) Water accumulation at valve housing.

It was decided to replace the damaged parts. Following Spares

used for compressor No-2 complete overhauling.

After observation of compressor -2, it was decided to
overhaul compressor-1 also. Hence compressor-1 completely
dismantled & observed the following problems.
1) Found heavy scale on cylinder jacket & head frame.
2) Due to scaling temperature was above normal.
3) Piston rings & wear ring worn out due to high
temperature.
4) Suction & discharge valve parts were worn out due to
high temperature.
Compressor-1 completely overhauled & taken into service.
Following spares were used for compressor-1.

Conclusion:Following things were recommended by M/S equipments &

Spares Service Engineer, Mr. Sreenath to avoid break down &
efficient running of equipment.
1) Separate cooling water line to be given for compressor.
2) Existing inlet/outlet cooling water line to be modified to
1.
3) Strainer to be provided for cooling water inlet line.
4) Cooling water inlet/outlet line valve to be changed.
5) Cooling water quality has to be improved to avoid
scaling.
6) Every 3000 Hrs suction & discharge valves to be
serviced.
7) Packing rings to be replaced if necessary.
8) Any leakages on water side/air side to be arrested
immediately.
9) Discharge air temperature tripping set point should not
be raised more than 190 0C.
10) Change over of compressor has to be done at every
24 Hrs
