Foreword
This Directory of Services for Older People has been prepared
by Age Concern Ealing, in partnership with Ealing Council
and Ealing Primary Care Trust. It provides details about a
range of organisations that provide services to older people
and their carers, together with contact details. We hope you
will find these resources useful.
Covering subjects ranging from social care and health to
transport and specialist services for the black and minority ethnic
communities the aim of this Directory is to enable older people
and their carers to identify easily which organisations will be able
to provide the information needed to make informed choices.
Should you wish to obtain a copy of this directory, please
contact the Social Services Contact Centre at Ealing Council
on 020 8825 8000.
This directory is also available on the following websites:
www.ageconcernealing.org.uk
www.ealingpct.nhs.uk
www.ealing.gov.uk
We want to ensure that this Directory continues to provide
a comprehensive list of all key services. If you are aware of
changes to services, please contact the Reception and
Information Co-ordinator at Age Concern Ealing on 020 8567
8017 who will ensure that these are incorporated into the annual
review of the Directory.

regular basis to ensure they meet
specific standards.

Support for Carers

Description of Service
Ealing Council and Ealing Primary
Care Trust along with local
voluntary organisations have
developed a Carers Centre and
Carers Strategy to support carers
in Ealing. Its aim is to provide
advice, advocacy, practical help,
support and information to all
carers, from all backgrounds,
from across the Borough.

Short Breaks for Older

People
Description of Service
Short breaks for older people are
stays in a residential home to
provide a break for the older
person or their carer. The breaks
can be as short as one or two
nights, but are normally offered for
a week, or sometimes two weeks.

Many people who are caring for

someone do not necessarily see
themselves as a carer. However,
being identified as a carer can be
important in helping you get the
right support you need to look
after the person you care for.
