Adding a 7302 FD Subrack in Existing Racks

Warnings !
For thermal and cabling reasons, any Alcatel-Lucent subracks
(with a maximum of 2 active subracks and 1 passive/splitter
subrack) must be positioned in the FD cabinet.
ISAM LT subracks must be mounted at the bottom of the rack on
rack vertical pitch number 60 (subrack pitch number 1). This way,
a free air inlet is created of about 75 mm below the bottom ISAM
subrack.
The distance between 2 indication lines (identical to the distance
between 2 mounting holes) is 25 mm. This results in a bottom FD
LT mounting position of 60 x 25 = 1500 mm from the top of the
rack.
Above the top ISAM subrack, an free air exhaust space of 75 mm
must be foreseen.

Fiber Optic Cable

Danger: Never look into the end of an optical fiber while optical power is being applied
to the fiber. When cleaning or taking measurements, avoid eye exposure to open-ended
fibers and optical connectors. The fibers and connectors may be connected to a laser
transmitter.

COPYRIGHT 2011 ALCATEL-LUCENT. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

Optical Fiber Management Capacity

Due to some fibre handling and routing issues, some limitation apply on the number of fibres
that can be supported by a given subrack type. Two types of fiber are considered:

Standard fibre: 3 mm (diameter)

Thin fibre: 1.6 mm (diameter)

For NT and NT I/O Boards

For fibers directly connected to the NTs (where each NT supports three Small Form
Pluggable (SFP) fiber interfaces), the following applies:
SFPs with thin fibers (thin fibre cross-section = 1.6 mm):
On the NT slots, a maximum of 16 thin fibers or 8 per NT can be wired. So no restrictions to
support the maximum of 2 NT x 3SFPs/NT x 2 fibers per SFP = 12 thin fibers
SFPs with standard fibers (standard fibre cross-section = 3 mm):
The limit of 4 standard fibers that can be wired for the sum of the 2 NT slots gives a
restriction: that is, maximum 2 SFPs with standard fiber for the sum of 2 NTs.

Note: Up to 18 LT boards are supported in an FD subrack, on the condition

that there are no rack and cabling restrictions at the customer side. The
following tables show the fiber management capacity per subrack for the
different optical fiber types if the Alcatel-Lucent fiber management kit 3FE
61087 AA is being used.

Managing Fiber Optic Cables for LT Boards

The GPON SFPs require an SC/APC connector. For NELT-A and NELT-B, 90 fiber
connector strain relief boots are required.
Note 1: In the case of bidirectional fiber optic cables as used
with the NGLT, the transmit and receive signals are carried on
the same fiber and only have one optical connector.
Note 2: The NGLT-x boards must only be used in ISAM
systems with an FD 100Gbps (NANT-D) or an FD 320Gbps
(NANT-E) NT board

COPYRIGHT 2011 ALCATEL-LUCENT. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

Fiber connection on the NELT and NGLT board

The common cable bending area in front of the shelf (or the
board) is 5 cm. In order to be able to shut the rack door the
fiber start may not take more than 5 cm. To help the
operator to achieve this a cable bending element can be
used.
