Basic Types of Websites on the Internet

1. Commercial Website- a type of website who sells products or services
and also used for promoting a business or service. They are the most
common type of website on the internet and the internet address often
ends with .com
2. Personal Website-a type of website is run by an individual or a small
group (family) which provides information about an individual or group.
3. Organizational Website- atype of website which advocates an individuals
opinion or a groups point of view.
4. Educational Website- a type of website which provides information about
an educational establishment or to present information in an educational
manner. The internet address ends in .edu.
5. Entertainment Website- a type of website which entertains and provides
amusement. The internet address often ends with .com.
6. News Website- type of website which provides information about
current events, dedicated to dispensing news and commentary. The
internet address often ends with .com.

7. Blog- a website that is used to log online readings or to post online diaries
and it includes discussion forums or chat rooms.
8. Hybrid Website- many websites are a mixture of types. For example, a
business web site may promote the business products, but may also host
an informative documents.
