6.7.5 Outprrt Flrrctrrcttion

Using au appropriate simulator, a signal represenling

the approximately mid-scale value of the rated input
range is applied to the electronic unit. With all influence
quantities at their reference vahles, the ou!put reading
of the unit is recorded, in terms of the units of the
proprty to be measured.
In turn, the anlbient temperature, the relative humidity,
the power supply voltage and the power supply frequcney are shifled to the linlits of their rated operating
conditions and the output readings are recorded for
each condition.

Using ill1 appropriate simulator, a Sigllill representing

the approximately
slid-scale value of the rated input
range is applied to the electronic unit for a period of
5 niin and the n~axin~um peak-to-peak value of the
random, or regular, deviation from the mean output
is detcmined.
The test is repeated three times and the average-of the
readings is reported in tcrrns ofperccntagc of the span.
NOTES
1 For the purpose of this standard, spikes caused by the
inlluencc ofcxternal electromagnetic fields or by supply
mains spikes are considered as due tc, changes in intluencc quantities and are, therefore ignored in the determination of output tlucluation.

The nlaxinmu deviation in recorded values shall be

within the stated operating error.
NOTE-When temperature or humidity is shifted, suffi-

variable time constants in the output circuit, the output

cient time should be allowed to observe the maximum

effect.

6.7.2 Lincrrrity Error

At Icast five approxirnatcy
uniformly distributed signals, with two of them representing very nearly the
limits ofthe rated input range ofthe electronic unit, are
applied from a simulator and the readings are recorded.
A straigh! line drawn between the iudicatcd values at
the upper and lower limits of the effective range.
The nlaxinlunl deviation between the recorded values
and this straight line is the linearity error. It is expressed
in terms of the units oflhe property to be measured.

6.7.6 D&y Time (Tlo), Rise (Full) Time (Tr , Tf) rrnd
90 Percent Time (TOO)
Using an appropriate simulator, signals reprcscnting
the mininnm and nlaxinlum rated input values are
applied successively to the electronic unit and left until
a constant reading is obtained ou the recorder chart.
The values for delay time (Tlo) for both increasing and
decreasing step changes, rise time (T,), fall time (Tf)
and 90 percent time (Tgu) for both increasing and
decreasing step changes arc determined
through
knowledge of the chart speed. The larger of the two
delay times, the larger of rise or fall time and the larger
of the two 90 percent times arc reported. (See Fig.1 ).

NOTE This test should be combined with the

repeatahility
test. The uncertainty limits due to
repeal;~l~ility should be taken into acu, unt.

6.7.3 Rcpecrta@lity
Using an appropriate simulator, signals representing
approximately the nlininnm and the nlaxinmu rated
input values are applied to the electronic unit and the
indicated values are recorded.

6.7.7

Wnwn-up Time

The electronic unit is switched off and all of its corn-ponents are allowed to cool to the reference tempera-

ture. The unit is switched ou and, using an appropriate

simulator, a signal representing between 7.5 percent
and 95 percent of the span is applied to the electronic
unit, aud the reading is recorded. Recording is coutinued until the deviation in reading over a 15 ruin
period is not greater than the sum of the stated
repeatability and stability.

Warm-up time is determined as the interval from the

time the electronic unit is switched 011until the hcginning of this 15 min period.
NOTE -This test does not include the warm-up time for
an automatic temperature compensating circuit if its sensor would he located with the electron~echanical scnsnr
unit.
