Computer Network "is a collection of autonomous computers connected together in a single technology.

computer network has several sections as follows:

1. Classification network
2. Types of network
3. Basic hardware components
1. The classification of the first element of the network has a connection method 3 second third functional
relationship network technology
The first connection method
Wired Networks Wired networks, also called Ethernet networks, are the most common type of local area
network (LAN) technology. A wired network is simply a collection of two or more computers, printers, and
other devices linked by Ethernet cables.
Wireless Networks A wireless network, the which uses high-frequency radio waves rather than wires to
communicate between nodes, is another option for home or business networking
The second function relationship / network architecture
Network architecture is the design of a communications network. It is a framework for the specification of a
network's physical components and their functional organization and configuration, its operational principles
and procedures, as well as the data formats used in its operation.
A peer-to-peer (P2P) network is a type of decentralized and distributed network architecture in the which the
individual nodes in the network (called "peers") act as both suppliers and consumers of resources, in contrast to
centralized client-server model where client nodes to request access to resources provided by central servers.
A client / server network is a system where one or more computers called clients connect to a central computer
named a server to share or use resources. Each client computer must use an operating system that Allows it to
be-identified to Participate in the network.
Active networking is a communication pattern that Allows packets flowing through a telecommunications
network to dynamically modify the operation of the network
A computer network topology is the physical communication scheme used by connected devices
Star Topology

Many home networks use the star topology. A star network features a central connection point called a "hub
nodes" that may be a network hub, switch or router
Bus Topology

Bus networks (not to be confused with the system bus of a computer) use a common backbone to connect all
devices
Ring Topology

In a ring network, every device has exactly two neighbors for communication purposes. All messages travel
through a ring in the same direction
Mesh topologies involve; the concept of Routes. Unlike each of the previous topologies, messages sent on a
mesh network can take any of several possible paths from source to destination.
Tree topologies integrate multiple star topologies together onto a bus. In its Simplest form, only hub devices
connect directly to the tree bus, and each hub functions as the root of a tree of devices
Metropolitan Area Network - a network spanning a physical area larger than a LAN but smaller than a WAN,
such as a city. A MAN is typically owned an operated by a single entity such as a government body or large
corporation.
Campus Area Network - a network spanning multiple LANs but smaller than a MAN, such as on a university or
local business campus.
LAN - Local Area Network
WLAN - Wireless Local Area Network
WAN - Wide Area Network
MAN - Metropolitan Area Network
SAN - Storage Area Network, System Area Network, Server Area Network, or sometimes Small Area Network
CAN - Campus Area Network, Controller Area Network, or sometimes Cluster Area Network
PAN - Personal Area Network
AND - Desk Area Network
VPNs, or Virtual Private Networks, are great for protecting your privacy and security while you use the
internet.
Internet (Interconnected Network) is a global network that connects computers to each other around the world
The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol
suite (TCP / IP) to link several billion devices worldwide
An "intranet" is the generic term for a collection of private computer networks within an organization. An
"extranet" is a computer network that Allows controlled access from the outside for specific business or
educational purposes. Intranets and extranets are communication tools designed to enable easy information
sharing within workgroups.
Intranet

This is a network that is not available to the world outside of the Intranet.
Extranet

An Extranet is actually an Intranet that is partially accessible to Authorised outsiders.
