concentrating all its products and services on
PROFIBUS and PROFINET technology. Our main
business is the export of in-house developed
automation products through our worldwide
distributor network. PROCENTEC is also providing
vendor independent training and support to endusers.

PROCENTEC runs 3 oces; the headquarters is

We are an international PROFIBUS and PROFINET

Competence Center with all the required expertise
available to realize our projects and services. We
have the availability of some real experts whose
knowledge makes us unique in the world. Because
of our international recognition we are often
contracted for projects, in Europe and abroad and
oer a wide range of commercial services (consultancy, training, engineering, commissioning,
maintenance and troubleshooting).
Test laboratory and democenter
PROCENTEC runs 1 of the 8 accredited test laboratories for the certification of PROFIBUS devices.
In our laboratory vendors can have their products
tested on PROFIBUS compatibility. We have a demonstration facility, which consists out of more than
250 devices from more than 40 vendors.
Training and education
PROCENTEC is very successful with its training program.

Up to now, more than 4000 participants have received a
certificate. The costs incurred for engineering, assembly,
commissioning and maintenance always play a key role
when choosing a fieldbus. We train our participants that
the implementation of PROFIBUS and PROFINET can
help to cut costs in all areas. Our practical experience
is the key factor! PROCENTEC oers dierent types of
PROFIBUS and PROFINET training modules which are
organised on a regular basis.

PROFIBUS Tools
PROFIBUS is a proven standard in the industry. More
and more plants are completely equipped with
this outstanding technology. The management of
these enterprises is aware that the intelligence and
diagnostics of the instruments contribute to costs
savings and optimization of production automation. The
grey area is the knowledge level of the maintenance
technicians who need to work with this system. A lot of
times their know-how has reached the limit which leads
to a point that they see the installation as a black-box.
When a disturbance occurs, nobody knows what to do
and where to start A proper investment in tools is
required!
Troubleshooting and maintenance tools for PROFIBUS
had their own history and evolution. It started with the
simple busmonitors in the 90s (based on PC cards) to
the more advanced analyzers in the beginning of 2004
that were based on USB and could oer statistics for
an overview about the condition of the installation. A
giant leap forward is the incredible ProfiTrace 2. Finally,
analysis of the signal quality, busmonitoring, topology
scan, reporting and master activities can be carried out
simultaneously on the same USB hardware. The technician can check and troubleshoot the complete DP and
PA PROFIBUS network with 1 software package and 1

ProfiTrace 2 is the most powerful analyzer for
PROFIBUS networks. It is the latest generation
in the line of busmonitor technology because it

Colours make it easy..

The Live List is a matrix that continuously lists all
the available devices. It is directly visible which
devices are troublemakers. With dierent
background colours the status of the devices is displayed;
Green: Device is in Data Exchange
Yellow: Device is lost
Red: Parameter fault
Purple: Configuration fault
No colour: Not in Data Exchange
The Live List can also generate the product name
of the devices when a diagnostic message is captured
(synchronized with the GSD library).
S tatistics matrix
Click and go..

The statistics matrix is the most powerful
feature of the analyzer. This field can
really indicate what the condition of the
installation is. It displays all the important
information that a user, especially a maintenance technician is really interested in:
Retry messages.
Fall-outs.
Bus cycle time.
Diagnostic messages, etc.
Because of this feature, the user does not
have to inspect messages or do dicult
operations to ensure the quality of the
installation.

PROFIBUS DP master platform
ProfiCaptain is a PC based DP
master that has been designed
for applications like: I/O tests,
commissioning, parameterization
and demonstrations. It makes
working with PROFIBUS a lot easier,
faster and more fun.
The platform is a configuration environment in which the user can setup
his slaves with the respective modules
and parameters. After setting up the
network, the user puts them online
without compilation or download.
The I/Os can simply be watched and
manipulated. If needed, class 2 functions can be used on all addresses in the network,
even if they are not configured or belong
to another master. ProfiCaptain is integrated
in ProfiTrace 2.

PA Probe Ultra
Tap Connector
The PA Probe is a small but high-tech extension for

ProfiTrace that makes it possible to do electrical and
protocol measurements directly on the PA bus. With
the PA Probe you can use ProfiTrace on DP as well as
PA networks and finally cover all installations with 1
tool.
The Tap Connector is a cable to connect ProfiTrace to a

DP network.
The PA Probe does NOT consume current from the

coupler and can also interpret signals which are out
of range. It has screw terminals so that the user can
easily attach the PA cable.

Check your work with this easy tester
The BT200 is a simple tool to verify the PROFIBUS DP cable
at the end of the installation phase. Installation errors can
be quickly detected without eort. No special knowledge
is required.
The BT200 is easy to handle. Attach the BT200 to the first
PROFIBUS connector and a test plug to the last PROFIBUS
connector. Press Test and the screen will display a fault or
OK message.
Remark: It can only be used when the installation is NOT running (non active masters)!

ProfiHub A5 and B5. These are perfect economic solutions to implement reliable spur lines in high-speed
DP networks. They have the functionality of 5 isolated

Active PROFIBUS Termination T1

Reliable termination for PROFIBUS DP networks
The T1 Terminator provides active and reliable termination for PROFIBUS
networks which are based on RS 485. By using this component it is
possible to turn o, remove or replace devices without disturbing the bus
communication. This applies in particular to the devices at the end of the
segment.
The T1 has a couple of special features which makes it a very useful infrastructure component; it has a redundant power supply and diagnostic
LEDs to indicate the status of each power source. It is also equipped with
an additional DB9 connector for ProfiTrace or other maintenance/engineering tool. The DB9 connector can also be used as the primary bus
connection if circumstances so dictate.
The T1 Terminator can be installed on a standard DIN-rail.

Compact PROFIBUS Repeater B1

An economic alternative for the modern industry
The compact PROFIBUS DP Repeater B1 oers an economic alternative
and tackles the technological limitations of the existing repeaters. This
first-class network component fulfils the electrical, mechanical and
diagnostic requirements of the demanding modern industry.
The advanced 12 Mbps core of the B1 is identical as the ProfiHub; it can
be cascaded unlimitedly and has increased signal strength. It does not
have the frustrating short-circuit bug and the data is constantly monitored for glitches which are digitally filtered out. Every channel has
on-board switchable termination and able to drive 31 devices.
The removable screw terminals of the PROFIBUS interface are
pinned-out in a way that reversal mounting of the repeater
does not impact existing wiring. A DB9 connector is provided for ProfiTrace or other maintenance/engineering
tools.
The redundant power supply makes it suitable for applications where high availability is required and consumes relatively
low power which helps the environment.

Connectors
Connecting PROFIBUS DP devices is relatively
straightforward since all nodes are typically daisy
chained together. The DB9 connector is the most
commonly used. PROCENTEC is distributing reliable
PROFIBUS connectors from Siemens, Lapp and Profichip.
They are diering slightly in design, quality and costs.
The Fast Connector (FC) types do not have screw
terminals inside, but cut themselves with a V-shape
knife in the insulation of the wires. When the

to do a measurement with an oscilloscope, because
there are NO standard connection points available
and a third-load is NOT recommended. To solve

PROFINET monitoring interface
ProfiTap Industrial is an interface to perform monitoring on
PROFINET networks. It is an essential tool for PROFINET
engineering activities, especially to verify the connections and
performance of IRT and other real-time applications.
The monitor port of switches is unreliable for monitoring; it
can be occupied or is not forwarding all trac. The load on
the Ethernet port of the laptop is also too high with IRT
applications because 2 channels are merged in one.
The ProfiTap has a USB link with the laptop that
streams the captured messages to the accompanying driver, which emulates an additional Ethernet
port on the laptop and hands the messages over to
any application.
The ProfiTap also prevents the laptop to send out
messages on its own initiative, which could jeopardize
the real-time behaviour and security of the network.

Services
We are an international PROFIBUS and PROFINET
Competence Center with all the required expertise
available to realize our projects and services. We have
the availability of some real experts whose knowledge
makes us unique in the world. Because of our international recognition we are often contracted for projects,
in Europe and abroad and oer a wide range of commercial services (consultancy, training, engineering,
commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting).
PROCENTEC runs 1 of the 8 accredited test laboratories for the certification of PROFIBUS devices. In our
laboratory vendors can have their products tested on
PROFIBUS compatibility. We have a demonstration
facility, which is used for support, training, demonstrations, engineering and trade fairs. It consists of more
than 250 devices from more than 40 vendors. The
vendors have provided the equipment for marketing
and technical purposes. This co-operation generates a
synergetic eect that enables innovative solutions for
our clients.

PROFIBUS Product Certification

Secure your product quality
PROCENTEC is an accredited PROFIBUS Test
Laboratory for the certification of PROFIBUS
devices. In our laboratory vendors can
have their products tested on PROFIBUS
compatibility. PROFIBUS International issues
certificates for the tested devices.
A PROFIBUS certificate is more than a marketing
argument for the manufacturer: It stands for the
quality of a product. Many end-users only use certified products in their plants. Currently, more than
1500 PROFIBUS products are certified.
F ull service formula
We have a team of experienced engineers and testers to support the client. We test the device according to standardized test specifications, but also give recommendations and advice about the device on end-user level. We can
also support the client at the start of the development with consulting services, protocol stacks, product development, development tools and even ASICs.
Sometimes we discover errors in the hardware or software of the device. In those cases we try to solve the error
at our location to save precious time for the client. Its our strategy to support the client as much as possible. If
an engineer is present during the testing, he has the opportunity to benefit from the knowledge of the experts
at PROCENTEC. We have all kinds of components (ASICs, active and passive components) on stock, soldering/desoldering equipment and specialised personnel who can do hardware adjustments for the client. The necessary
equipment is available to update EPROMs or Flash.

Installation Certification
The third eye on your installation
An installation certification is a quality assurance
for plant-owners that the PROFIBUS and/or
PROFINET installation complies to the standard
and is working properly before it is being put into
commission. By means of procedural checklists,
we will verify that the installation functions
according to the functional specifications.
The results of the certification are written down in
a detailed test report. PROCENTEC has been doing
installation audits for a couple of years now. This
activity has boosted the success rate for a lot of
projects.

On-site Troubleshooting
Let the experts fix your problems
We can be contracted for onsite emergency
troubleshooting based on standard fees. In
most cases an engineer can be made available
within 8 hours. All the tools are at our disposal
to work as ecient as possible: busmonitors,
scopes, analyzers, service and diagnostic
software.
We can be called in for consultancy and project
support concerning all PROFIBUS and PROFINET
matters. Because of the international quality recognition we are often contracted for medium and
large-scale projects, in Europe and abroad. From the
planning phase up to the commissioning phase, we
can assist integrators, end-users and plant owners
with their projects.
