Vendor keys for SAP Best Practice add-ons

Symptom
This note provides information on the vendor keys to KEEP the SAP Best practice
add-ons during upgrades other SAP Netweaver/ ERP/ SCM/ CRM
releases.
This note is applicable when any one of the below 2 cases is true:
1)EHP6 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 ON HANA ramp up:The ramp up customer who needs to to upda
te his system landscape with Best Practices add-on to higher release of SAP Netw
eaver/ERP/ SCM/ CRM.
2)For other non ramp-up customers who need to update their system landscape wit
h BestPractices add-on to her releases of SAP Netweaver/ERP/SCM/ CRM.
3)SAP internal systems: You are updating your internal SAP landscape with SAP Ne
tweaver/ ERP/ SCM/ CRM.

Reason and Prerequisites
This reason and solution is valid for SAP NW 700/ 701/ 702/ 731/ 740.
Solution
During upgrade of your system using SAPEhpi/SUM/SAPup, the tool asks for
a 'decision' in IS_SELECT phase.
Technically SAP provides a so called "Vendor Key" for SAP upgrade/update

of systems. This is only to ensure that the upgrade is technically completed.

When SAP EhPI/SAPup/SUM asks for a decision regarding installed add-ons,
choose "KEEP" for the SAP BP add-ons. In the next step a vendor key has to be p
rovided.
For technical reasons, vendor keys are specific for the "target release"the upda
te is performed to:

"IMPORTANT NOTE" :
The functionality of the already installed SAP BP add-ons based on the previous
SAP application version - the activation of a SAP BP package based on the previo
us SAP application version - can NO LONGER BE USED. But of course the functional
ity of the new SAP application version as such can be used.
SAP BP package activation on the higher SAP application release requires the ava
ilability and import of the SAP BP add-ons based on the new application release.
