Duaa As-Simaat

DUAA AS-SIMAAT
It is recommended to recite this duaa in the last hour before Mahgrib on Friday. Al-Majlisi
says that most the pious religious scholars used to recite this dua'a. It is is narrated in
Shaykh Tusis Almusbah, Sayyid ibna Tawuss Jamal Al-Usbooa and in Kafamis
books on the authority of Muhammad ibn Uthman Al-Umri, the representative of Imam
Sahibuz Zaman (aj) with reliable sanads. The duaa is also narrated from Imam Baqer (as)
and Imam Sadeq (as). Al-Majlasi narrates it in Al-Bihar and explains its meanings.
Following is the duaa according to Sheikh Tusis Almusbah:
English Translation

Transliteration

O Allah! I beseech You through


Your Name, the great, the most
great,

allahumma in-neee as aluka bismikal-azeemil-aa-zami

the most majestic, the most


magnificent and the most noble.

l-aaz-zil aja lil ak-rami

If You are requested therewith to al-ladee idaa dueeta bihi alaa


maghaaliqi ab-waabis-samaaopen the closed doors of the sky
lilil-fat-hi birrah mati ka in
these will open with Your mercy.

If You are requested thereby to


remove the narrowness of the
doors of the earth, they will be
opened wide.

wa idaa dueeta bihi alaa


mazaaa-iqi ab- waabil-arzi lilfarajin-farajat

If You are requested thereby to


make easy the difficulty, it will
be made easy.

wa idaa dueeta bihi alaal-usri lil-yus-ri tayas-sarat

If You are requested thereby to


restore the dead to life, they will
rise from their graves.

wa idaa dueeta bihi alaal-amwaati lin nushoorin-tasharat

If You are requested thereby to


remove misery and adversity, it
will be removed.

wa idaa dueeta bihi alaa kash


fil-ba-saaa-i waz-zar-raaain-kashafat

I beseech You through


Majesty of Your person,

the

wa bijalaali waj-hikal-kareem

Duaa As-Simaat
the Most Generous

and the Most Honoured One,

before Whom everybody bows


down in submission

ak-ram-wujohi

wa aaz-zil-wujooh

al-ladee anat lahul-wujooh

wa khazaat lahur-riqaab

and all voices become humbled

wa khashaat lahul-as-waat

and all hearts tremble; through


His fear

wa wajilat lahul-quloobu mimmakhaafatika

and I beseech You through Your


Might, which prevents the heaven
from falling on the earth except
with Your permission,

wa bi-qo-watikal-latee bihaa
tum-sikus-samaaa-a an taqaa
alaal-arzi il-laa bidnika

and which controls all the


heavens and the earth so closely
that they cannot move away from
their positions;

wa tum-sikus-samaaati wal-arza an tazoolaa

and I beseech You through Your


Will, which the whole world
obeys,

wa bi-masheee-atikal-latee dallahaal-aalamoon

and through Your Word. By


which You have created the
heaven and the earth,

wa bi-kalimatikal-latee khalaqta bihaas-samaawaati wal-arz

wa bi-kalimatikal-latee sana-ta
bihaal-ajaaa-iba

and all necks bend down in


reverence

and through Your Wisdom, with


which You have created the
wonders,
and with which You created
Darkness
and made it Night,

wa khalaq-ta bihaaz zul-mata

wa jaal-tahaa laylan

and made night the time of quiet


and rest;

wa jaal-tal-layla sakanaa

and with which You created


Light

wa khalaq-ta bihaan-noora

Duaa As-Simaat
and made it Day,

and made day the time of


movement and observation;
and with which You have created
the Sun,
and made the sun gleam

wa jaal-tahu naharaa

wa jaal tan-nahaaara
nushooraam-mub-siraa
wa khalaq-ta bihaashamsa

wa jaal-tash-sham-sa zi-yaaaa

And with which You have


created the Moon,

wa khalaq-ta bihaal qamara

and made the moon light;

wa jaal-tal-qamara nooraa

and with which You have created


heavenly bodies,

wa khalaq-ta bihaal-kawaakiba

and made them fixed stars and


planets,

wa jaal tahaa nujoomaaw-wa


buroojaaw-

and lamps for guidance at night,


and as a means of decoration, and
missiles for driving away devils,

wa masaabeeha wa zeenatawwa rujooma

and have created for them east


and west,

wa jaal-ta lahaa mashaariqa qa


maghaarib

and have created for them the


places of ascendancy and orbits,

wa jaal ta lahaa mataalia wa


majaaree

and created for them a firmament


and sphere,

wa jaal ta lahaa falkaaw-wa


masaabih

wa qad-dar-tahaa fis-samaaa-i
manazila

and fixed for them stages in the


heaven

and how beautiful the stages

faahsanta taq-deerahaa

and shaped the stars and how


beautiful the shapes

wa saw-war-tahaa faah-santa
tas-weeraha

and made them stable through


Your Name;

wa ah saytahaa bi-as-maaa-ika
ihsaaa-aa

and from Your Wisdom You


designed a system for them

wa dab-bar-tahaa bi hik-matika
tad-beeraa

Duaa As-Simaat
and what a good system,

and controlled the heavenly


bodies through the king of the
night
and the king of day,

fa ah-san-ta tad-beerahaa

wa sakh-har-tahaa bi-sul-taanillayli

wa sul-taani-nahaari

and through hours, making them


a means for the reckoning of
years and counting,

was-saaaati wa adadis sineena


wal-hsaab

making appearance of heavenly


bodies regular and universal.

wa jaal-ta ru-yatahaalijameeinnaasi mar-aaw-waahidaa

And I beseech You, O Allah,


through Your Glory, with which
You addressed Your slave and
Your Messenger,

wa-as-alukallahumma bimajdika
al-ladee kal-lam-ta bihi aabdaka wa rasoolaka

Moses son of 'Imran peace be on


him,

moosab-na im-raana alayhis


salaamu

while he was in the company of


angels

fil-muwad-daseen

which address even the favourite


cherubin could not ever hear,

faw-qa ih-saasil karoobee-yeen

above the clouds of light,

above the box of evidence,

faw-qa ghamaaa-imin-noor

faw-qa taabootish-shahaadah

fee amoodin-naari

on Mount Sinai,

wa fee toori saynaaa-a

and on Mount Hurith

wa fee jabali hooreetha

in the Holy Vale

fil-waadeel-muqad-dasi

fil-buq-atil- mubaarakati

within the pillar of fire

in the sacred tract of land

Duaa As-Simaat
to the right of Taurus Mountainthrough a tree;

min jaanibit-tooril-aymani
minash-shajarah

and again addressed him on the


soil of Egypt,

wa fee arzi misra

after showing nine clear signs

and on the day You split the sea


for the Children of Israel,
and caused springs to flow from a
stone, thereby displaying
wonders of Your might
in a deep sea;

bi-tis-iaaa-yaatim bay-yinaat

wa yaw-ma faraq-ta libaneee israaa-eelal-bahr

wa fil-mum-bajisaatil-latee
sana-ta bihaal- ajaaa-iba

fee bah-ri soof

and on the day when You


solidified the water of the sea in
the midst of the storm,

wa aqad-ta maaa-al-bahri fee


qal-bil-gham-ri kal-hijaarati

and caused the Children of Israel


to pass by it,

wa jaawazta bi-baneee is-raaaeelal-bahra

and fulfilled Your excellent


promises made to them because
of their calmly endurance,

wa tammat kalimatukal- hus-naa


alayhim bimaa sabaroo

and made them the inheritors of


the East and the West in the
earth,

wa aw-rath-tahum-mashaariqalar-zi wa maghaa ribaha

wherein there are blessings for all


the worlds;

al-latee baarak-ta feehaa lilaalameen

and You drowned Pharaoh and


his armies and boats in the water.

wa agh-raq-ta fir-awna wa
junoodahu wa maraakibahu filyam

And (I beseech You) through


Your name, which is the most
great,

wa bis-mikal-azeemil-aazami

the most majestic, the most


magnificent, the most noble;

al-aazil-ajal-lil-ak-ram

Duaa As-Simaat

and through Your glory, with


which You revealed light to
Moses, Your addressee, peace be
on him, on Mount Sinai;

wa bimaj-dikal-ladee tajal-layta
bihi li-moosaa kalemika alayhissalaamu fee toori say-naaa-a

and earlier radiated the light for


Abraham, Your sincere friend
peace be on him, in the mosque
of al-Khayf;

wa li-ibraaheema alayhissalaamu khaleeka min qab-lu fee


mas-jidil-kheef

and for Isaac, Your chosen


Prophet, peace be on him, in the
well of shiay',

wa li-is-haaqa safee-yika
alayhis-salaamu fee bi-ri sheein

wa li-yaa-qooba nabee-yika
alayhis-salaamu fee bayti eel

and through Your Glory, with


which You fulfilled Your
promise to Abraham, peace be on
him;

wa aw-fayta li-ib-riaheema
alayhis salaamu bi-meethaaqik

and through Your Oath in favour


of Isaac;

wa lis-haaqa- bihil-fik

and for Your Prophet Jacob,


peace be on him, in Bayt iil

and through Your witnessing


favouring Jacob;

wa li-yaaqooba bishahadatik

and through the fulfillments of


Your promise to the faithful:

wa lil-mu-mineena biwa-dika

and through Your Names with


which You accepted the prayers
of supplications;

wa lid-daaeena bi-as-maaa-ika
fajaab-t

and through Your Glory, which


appeared to Moses, son of Imran,
peace be upon him

wa bi-maj-dikal-ladee zahara
li-moosaa ibni im-raana
alayhis-salaamu

in Qubbat al-Rumman;

and through Your Signs, which


appeared on the soil of Egypt
with great might and victory,

with powerful signs

alaa qub-batir-rummaan

wa biaaa-yaatikal-latee waqaat
alaaa ar-zi mis-ra

bi-maj-di l-iz-zati wal-ghalabati

biaaa-yaatin azeezah

Duaa As-Simaat
and with the display of full
command
and great power;

wa bi-sul-taanil-qoo-wah

wa bi-iz-zatil-qud-rah

and with the affair of the perfect


word;

wa bi-sha-nil-kalimatit-taaammah

and with Your words with which


You do a favour for the people of
the heavens and the earth

wa bi-kalmaatikal-latee tafazzal-ta bihaa alaaa ahlissamaawaati wal-ar-zi

and the people of this world and


the hereafter;

wa ahlid-dun-yaa wa ah-lil-aakhirah

and through Your Mercy with


which You bestow upon all Your
creatures:

wa bi-rah-matikal-latee mananta bihaa alaa jameei khal-qik

and through Your Power with


which You dominate the worlds;

wa bis titaaatikal-latee aqamta bihaa alaal-aalameen

and (I beseech You) through


Your Light, through fear of
which Mount Sinai collapsed,

wa bi-noorikal-ladee qad kharra min fazaihi thooru saynaaa-a

through Your Knowledge, and


Your Greatness and Majesty, and
Your Unique Magnificence and
Your Honour and (through) Your
might,

wa bi-il-mika wa jalaalika wa
kib-ri- yaaa-ika wa iz-zatik
wa jabarootika

which the earth could not bear,

al-latee lam tas-taqil-laahaalaraz

and, for which the heavens bent


down,

wan-khafazat lahas-samaawaat

and the great depths restrained


themselves,

wanzajara lahaal-um-qul-ak-bar

and the seas and rivers became


stable,

wa rakadat lhaaal-bihaaru walan-haar

and to which the mountains made


submission,
and due to which the earth
became firm on its shoulders,

wa khazaat lahaal-jibaal

wa sakanat lahaaal-ar-zu bimanaakibihaa

Duaa As-Simaat
was-tas-lamat lahaal-khalaaaiqu kul-luhaa

and due to which the winds


breathed,

wa khafaqat lahaar-riyaahu fee


jarayaanihaa

and the flaming fires were


extinguished in their places.

wa khamadat lahaan-neeraanu
fee aw-taanihaa

And I beseech You through Your


might, through which You have
been known to be All-powerful
for ever and ever,

wu bisul-taanikal-ladee urifat
laka bihal-ghalabatu dah-radduhoori

and for which You have been


praised in the heavens and the
earth;

wa humid-ta bihi fis samaawaati


wal-arazeen

and I beseech You through Your


word, the Word of Truth, which
became a blessing for our father
Adam and his generation;

wa bikalimatika kalimatissidqil-latee sabaqat li-abeenaaa


aaa-dama alayhis-salaamu wa
dur-ree yatihu bir-rah-mah

and I beseech You through Your


word, by which You overcame
everything;

wa as-aluka bi-kalimatikal-latee
ghalabat kul-laa shay

and I beseech You through the


light of Your Face, which when it
flased on Mount Sinai

wa bi-noori waj-hikal-ladee
tajal-layta bihi lil-jabali

and to which all creatures


submitted,

crushed it to pieces,

fajaal tahu dak-kaa

whereby Moses fainted and fell


down,

wa khar-ra moosaa saiqaa

and through Your Glory, which


appeared on Mount Sinai,

wa bimaj-dikal-ladee zhara
alaa toori say-naaa-a

and through which You


addressed Your slave and Your
Mesenger; Moses, son of 'Imran,

fakal-lam-ta bihi aab-daka wa


rasoolaka moosaabina im-raan

and through Your appearance in


Sa'ir

wa bital-atika fee saaeer

and on Mount Faran

wa zuhoorika fee jabali


faaraana

Duaa As-Simaat

near Rabawat, which are clean


and holy places,

bi-rabawaatil-muqad-daseena

when troops of heavenly angels


were in rows,

wa junoodil-malaaa-ikatis-saaaf-feen

and with the submissiveness of


the angels praising You,

wa khushooil-malaaa-ikatilmusab-biheen

and with Your blessings with


which You honoured Abraham,
Your sincere friend, peace be
upon him,

wa bi-barakaatikal-latee baarakta feeha a'laa ibraheema


khaleelika a'layhis sallam

among the followers of


Muhammad, Your blessings be
upon him and his Progeny

fee ummati muhammadin sallaallahu ailayhi wa aa-lih

and You honoured Isaac, Your


chosen prophet,

wa baarak-ta li-ishaaqa
s'afiyyika

among the followers of Jesus,


peace be on them both,

fee ummati e'essa alay-himaassalaam

and honoured Jacob, Your


favoured slave,

wa baarak-ta li-yaaqooba israaa-eelika

among the followers of Moses,


peace be on them both,

fee ummati moosaa alayhimaas-salaam

and honoured Your intimate


friend Muhammad, may the
blessings of Allah be upon him
and his Progeny,

wa baarak-ta lihabeebika
muhammadin sal-laallahu
aalihi wa aa-lihi

among his offspring and progeny,


and his followers

fee it-ratihi wa dur-ree-yathi


wa ummatih

O Allah! Just as were absent and


didnt witness these
manifestations of Your glory,

alllahumma wa kamaa ghib-naa


an daalika wa lam nash-had-hu

yet we believed in their truth and


justice, without having been
eyewitnesses,

wa aaa-man-naa bihi wa lam


narahu sid-qaaaw-wa ad-laa

So we beseech You to send Your


blessings upon Muhammad and
the Progeny of Muhammad,

an tusal-liya alaa
muhammadiw-wa aa-li
muhammadin

and honour Muhammad and the


Progeny of Muhamamad,

wa an tubaarika alaa
muhammadin-wa aa-li
muhammadin

Duaa As-Simaat
and have mercy on Muhammad
and the Progeny of Muhammad,

wa tarah'amma alaa
muhammadin-wa aa-li
muhammadin

with the blessings, honour, and


mercy

kaaf-zali maa sal-layta wa


baarak-ta wa tarah-ham-ta

you sent and bestowed on


Abraham and the progeny of
Abraham.

alaaa ib-raaheema wa aa-li ib


raheem

Surely You are Praiseworthy,


Glorious,

in-naka hameedum-majeed

the Doer of what You will.

You are Powerful over all things

faaaalul-limaa tureed

wa anta alaa kul-li shay-in


qadeerun

Now one should express his legitimate desire and beseech Allah to fulfill it, then recite the
following:

O Original Designer of Heavens
and Earth
O Lord of Glory and Honour

ya allahu

ya hannanu ya mannanu

ya badee'us samawati wal arzi

ya 'thal jalali wal ikrami

merciful

yaaa ar-hamar-raahimeena

O Allah, for the sake of this


prayer,

allahuma bihaq-qi hadaadduaaaa-i

and for the sake of these Names

which no one can interpret,

wa bihaq-qi hadiheel-as-maaai

il-latee laa yaa-lamu tafseerahaa

Duaa As-Simaat
the inner meaning of which no
one other than Yourself knows.

wa-laa yaa-lamu baatinahaa


ghayruk

Send Your blessing upon


Muhammad and the Progeny of
Muhammad;

sal-li alaa muhammadin wa


aa-li muhammadin

and do to me what suits You

and do not do to me what I


deserve
and forgive my sins

past and future,

and increase Your lawful


sustenance for me,
and save me from the help of
wicked men,

waf-al bee maa anta ah-luh

wa-laa taf-al bee ana ah-luhu

wagh-fir lee min dunoobee

maa taqad-dama minhaa wa maa


taakh-hara
wa was-sia alay-ya min
halaali rizqik
wak-finee maoonata in-saani
saw-in

wicked neighbours,

wa jari saw-in

wicked companions,

wa qareeni saw-in-

and wicked rulers

wa sul-taani saw-in

Verily You are able to do


whatever You will,

in-naka alaa maa tashaaa-u


qadeerun

and You know everything.

wa bikul-li shay-in aleemun

Amen, O Lord of the worlds.

aa-meen rab- bal-aalameen

Al-Majlasi narrated from Sayed Ibn Baqis Almusbah that one should say after reciting
Duaa As-Simat:

allahuma bihaq-qi hadaadduaaaa-i

and for the sake of these
Names

wa bihaq-qi hadiheel-as-maaa-i

which no one can interpret,

il-latee laa yaa-lamu tafseerahaa wa-laa ta-weelahaa

the inner and outer meaning of


which no one other than Your
self knows.

wa-laa yaa-lamu baatinahaa


wa-laa zaahirahaa ghayruk

Send Your blessing upon


Muhammad and the Progeny
of Muhammad;

an tusal-li alaa muhammadin


wa aa-li muhammad

and give me the good of this


world and the hereafter;

wa an tarzuqanee khayrad-dunyaa wal-aa-khirah

and do to me what suits You

waf-al bee maa anta ah-luh

and do not do to me what I


deserve
and exact vengeance from

wa-laa taf-al bee ana ah-luhu

wan-taqim lee min

Name your enemy then say:


and forgive my sins

past and future,

wagh-fir lee min dunoobee

maa taqad-dama minhaa


wa maa taakh-hara

and forgive my parents

wa li-wwaaliday-ya

and all faithful men and


women,

wa li-jameeil-mu-mineena
wal-mu-minaat

and increase Your lawful


sustenance for me,

wa was-sia alay-ya min


halaali rizqik

and save me from the help of


wicked men,
wicked neighbours,

wak-finee maoonata insaani saw-in


wa jari saw-in

Duaa As-Simaat
wicked rulers,

wa sul-taani saw-in

wicked companions,

wa qareeni saw-in-

and evil days

wa yaw-mi saw-in-

And evil hours,

wa saaati saw-in

and exact vengeance for me on


everyone who hatches secret
plots against me,

wan-taqim lee mimmayyakeedunee

and on everyone who


oppresses me

wa mimmay-yab-ghee alay
ya

and seeks to do to me or my
family

wa yureed bee wa bi-ah-lee

or my children or my brothers

wa aw-laadee wa ikhwaanee

or my neighbours or my
relations among faithful men
and women.

wa jeeraanee wa
qaraabaatee minal-mumineena wal-mu-minaati

(seeks to do) injustice

zul-maan

Verily You are able to do


whatever You will,

in-naka alaa maa tashaaau qadeerun

and You know everything.

wa bikul-li shay-in
aleemun

Amen, O Lord of the worlds.

aa-meen rab- balaalameen

O Allah! For the sake of this


prayer,

allahumma bihaq-qi
hadaad-duaaaa-i

grant wealth and affluence to


indigent faithful men and
women,

tafaz-z al alaa
fuqaraaa-il-mumineena
wal-muyminaati bil-ghinaa
wath-thar-wah

and recovery and sound health


to the sick faithful men and
women,

wa alaa mar-zaal mumineena wal-muyminaati


bish-shifaaa-i wassihhah

Duaa As-Simaat
and bliss and clemency to the
living faithful men and
women,

wa alaa ahyaaa-ilmumineena walmuyminaati bil-lutfi walkaraamah

wa alaa am-waatil-muand remit the sins of, and have


mercy on, the deceased faithful mumineea wal-muyminaati
bil-magh-firati war-rahmen and women,

mah

and arrange the return home of


all faithful travellers with
safety and gain.

wa alaa musaafireelmumineena wal-muminaati bir-rad-di ilaaa


aw-taanihim saalimeena
ghaanimeena

Through Your mercy, O Most


Merciful of all the merciful.

bi-rah-matika yaaa arhamar-raahimeena

May Allah's blessings be upon


our master Muhammad, the
seal of the prophets,

wa sal-laallahu alaa sayyidinaa muhammadin


khatamin-nabee-yeena

and his Progeny, the purified.

wa it-ratihit-taahireena

and His peace be upon them


plentifully

wasal-lama tas-leeman
katheeraa

Sheikh Ibn Fahad narrates that it is recommended after reciting Duaa As-Simat to recite the
