Pipeline Flow Options

Options:

Options:

West Route 182 km in total length

Objective:

Avoid the western edge of the National Park

Reference Case Route 55 km total length

Objective: Provide

Two Single-Phase Export Pipelines

the shortest route from the offshore fields to the LNG Plant

Gas & condensate production separation offshore

Two separate pipelines (Gas & Condensate) to shore

CIGMA Route 64 km total length

Objective:

Minimize the impact on the Peninsula & National Park (avoid if possible)

No separation offshore
One multi-phase pipeline (Gas & condensate) to shore
A slugcatcher onshore

Offshore Route 112 km total length

Objective:

One Multi-phase Export Pipeline

Provide zero (or absolute minimum) impact on the Peninsula

CIGMA and Offshore Routes are preferred for technical and cost reasons

Pipeline System Sizing

One Multi-Phase
Pipeline

Two Single-Phase
Pipelines

+
No slugging or flow stability concerns
Allows more line pack (larger gas line)

Approach:
A systems approach was taken that considered multiple variables in an effort
to minimize overall CAPEX.
The variables were pipeline diameter, offshore compression horsepower,
slugcatcher size, and offshore ANSI rating.

Higher CAPEX
More equipment offshore
Pipelines approx 30% higher
Increased environmental impact due to construction
Higher Safety Exposure
Higher OPEX
Less Availability

Dynamic simulations confirm flow

stability over proposed operational

Maximum flow greatly impacts required

Shell Global Solutions is a network of independent technology companies in the Shell Group. In this presentation the expression 'Shell' or 'Shell Global Solutions' is
sometimes used for convenience where reference is made to these companies in general, or where no useful purpose is served by identifying a particular company.
