Text: Operations Management, by Jay Heizer and Barry Render, 6th edition.
Prerequisites: A 2.0 campus GPA and either (Economics 51, Bus. Admin. 145, and
Bus. Admin. 250) or (Math 180 and Stats. 132).
Grading: Grades for the course are determined based on total points as indicate
d in the following table. There is not a strict scale (for example, 100-90=A, 89
-80=B, 79-70=C, etc.) and grades are assigned based on individual performance re
lative to the performance of the entire class.

Class Attendance and Preparation: Please come to class on time and prepared. Lat
e arrival is very disruptive for other students and repeated late attendance wil
l result in a reduced grade. You should prepare for class by reading the relevan
t materials before class and working relevant homework problems. Students are re
sponsible for all materials and announcements covered in class.
Quizzes: Several short quizzes will be given in class. The quizzes are not annou
nced in advance and if you miss a quiz, you receive a grade of 0 for that quiz.
Exams: Exams consist primarily of quantitative (calculation) problems, but will
also include multiple choice and/or short answer problems. The best preparation
for the exams includes:
1) understanding the material presented in class;
2) reading and understanding the text;
3) working the homework problems and asking questions about material you
do not understand; and
4) understanding the review materials linked to the Course Outline.
You are required to take the exams as scheduled. Missing an exam without prior a
rrangements will result in a score of "0" for that exam.
Academic Honesty: According to the University Standard of Conduct, Section 6.010
1, "The Board of Curators recognizes that academic honesty is essential for the
intellectual life of the University. Faculty members have a special obligation
to expect high standards of academic honesty in all student work. Students have
a special obligation to adhere to such standards." Any student who is caught che
ating on any exam or assignment will receive a grade of zero for that assignment
or exam. Further, a recommendation may be made to the appropriate university of

ficials that additional formal disciplinary action be taken.

Drop Policy: If you drop the course on or before the first class after Exam 1 i
s returned, you will receive a grade of "Excused". If you drop after the first c
lass after Exam 1 is returned, you will receive an "Excused" or "Failing" grade
based on your grade at the time the instructor receives written notification tha
t you are dropping the course.
Course Outline: The course is set up in 30 classes (each of 1 hour and 15 minut
es). The following outline indicates when each topic is planned to be covered.
This is subject to change. The links under Topic provide the PowerPoint or Word
