Statement of Purpose

I was born in a peaceful countryside where I spent the whole of my

childhood and led a memorable and happy life helping my parents in most
of my spare time. After that, I graduated from high school and passed the
national entrance exam, got into one of the top universities in Vietnam, Ho
Chi Minh University of Technology. I left my hometown to come to Ho Chi
Minh City for that higher education, where I am able to keep cherishing the
dream of becoming a Civil Engineer. Therefore, I put all of my effort into
sharpening my skills and acquiring knowledge to have the sufficient
preparation for my career path after graduation.
From my unceasing attempts, I have achieved high results in academic
knowledge, and then I was admitted to Hoa Binh Cooperation, one of the
biggest domestic construction firms of Vietnam, as an intern in the last
summer. During my internship in the constructions site, I was guided to
learn more about how to construct reinforced concrete and formwork and
was strongly impressed about general work program at site. They organize
and develop their tasks in a systematic and logical way to shorten the
construction duration, and such experience excited me with the thought
that I can create the initiatives like those in future. I realized that I was
highly attracted by the knowledge of structural designs, especially
knowledge in the field of foundation designs, which plays an important role
in reliable performance of high building constructions.
To acquire more academic knowledge, I am doing a research with the
project entitled Analyzing and calculating solutions for Top-down
construction of Saigon Center building phase 2&3 at Department of
Geotechnical Engineering, with M.Eng Hoang The as an advisor. Saigon
Center building has 45 upper stories and 6 basements with the most depth
of 28 meters. I was appointed to calculate transposition of soil and define
pure pressure and then using software to analyze data, and eventually
show the best solution for Top-down basement construction. I am given 12
months for this project and now there are 9 months left. I am trying my best
to complete all the stages to make my research project become a success.
In your research internship, I am truly attracted to for the following reasons:

impressive things in Canada. If admitted, I would like to become a
transporter who carry Vietnamese cultural beauty to Canada and
bring the values that I learn from Canada to Vietnam.
I believe that my enthusiasm comes from the desire to learn the advanced
technology from your country as well as to experience the active and
competitive work environment. Moreover, having participated in numerous
activities both in university and surrounding society including voluntary
campaigns in Ho Chi Minh City and a 10-day voluntary trip with students
from United Kingdom in Quang Nam province in the summer of 2013, I
have embodied sufficient teamwork skills and strong sense of the
bolstering understanding, cooperation and morale between members from
different characteristics. In addition, working as a dynamic member of GE
Volunteer Student Club where I am able to help and support children who
have hard condition life strongly improves my sense of empathy.
The last word I want to say, becoming an international intern is my true
desire. I believe those competences will make me an appropriate candidate
for Globalink Mitacs Research Internship Program in 2015.
