Personal Data along with bank details will be required at the time of online
registration/withdrawal on CSAB-2014 website. Since CSAB-2014 will refund initial deposit
(if applicable) to the candidate through online mode, all candidates need to provide correct
bank details (Account no, IFSC Code, Bank Name and Branch) at the time of registration /
withdrawal when prompted by the webpage very carefully ensuring no errors.
There will be Single set of choices for Engineering and Architecture to facilitate the
candidates who are eligible for both Engineering and Architecture streams. Such candidates
will be allocated only one seat either from Engineering or Architecture based on his/her
preference of choices & AIR. Therefore, candidates are advised to carefully fill their choices
during choice filling (for details please see Section 3.1).
Candidate should ensure before selecting his/her choice, that he/she fully aware about all
the institutes and the branches that he/she is selecting as one of the choices.
In case of Union Territories without any NITs, following Home State quota has been made
available at different NITs. Candidates passing out their qualifying exam from these Union
Territories are also eligible for seats in all other NITs under Other State quota: Table 1.

Seat matrices of all the Institutes are provided by the respective institutes taking into
consideration the reservation policies applicable to them. CSAB-2014 is not responsible for the
contents provided by the participating institutes.
There will be a Spot Round for admission after the first four rounds & internal sliding
within institute are over. Primary difference between First Four Rounds and Spot Round is
that in the Spot Round a candidate pays the fees in advance and thereby agrees to accept the
seat if allocated to him. However, if a candidate has paid the initial fee in earlier rounds
and participates in spot round (under different categories), he/she need not to pay the
spot round fee again. There is no provision of Fees refund paid for spot round, if the
candidate chooses not to accept the seat.
In Spot Round, both Government Funded Technical Institutes (NITs, IIITs and other
GFTIs) and Self Financed Technical Institutes (SFTIs) will participate.
For spot round, candidates are advised to carefully choose their institutes and branches, as
there is no provision of fee refund if one chooses not to join the allotted institute.
In Spot Round the collected fee will not be refunded if seat is allocated to a candidate. The
collected fee will be sent to the allocated Institute by CSAB-2014 even if the candidate does
not take admission there. However, in case no seat is allocated to a candidate the collected fee
will be refunded to the candidate by CSAB-2014.
It is unlikely that there will be more spot rounds. However, if such situation arises,
announcement will be made on the CSAB 2014 (www.csab.nic.in) website at appropriate time.
In spite of measures mentioned in the JEE Main Brochure for creating unique AIR, in case
same rank is allotted to two or more candidates by CBSE, the tie will be resolved first by
giving preference to higher age candidate and second by giving preference to the candidate
who has passed his/her qualifying exam earlier. If the tie is still not resolved Chairman CSAB2014 will constitute a committee for suggesting further measures for resolving the tie.
The following table briefly lists the seat allocation schedule by CSAB-2014.

during subsequent rounds.
A provisional admission letter will be issued to the candidates at the Reporting Center
after the verification of the fee is paid, and all certificates/credentials are found in
order.
Some of the institutes and branches have, as given in Section 6.3, additional
restrictions on qualifications, gender and categories etc. Software will not take
care of the same. Candidates are advised to ensure themselves that they satisfy all
the additional criteria before they fill in their choices for these

2.7
Candidates should note the following important points governing the admission process of
CSAB-2014:
Candidates should note that No Demand Draft / Cheque / Cash will be accepted at
the reporting centres for payment of initial fee (Rs. 40,000) in any of the rounds
including spot round.
As proof of initial fee payment, printed receipt or SMS/email towards the transaction
will be accepted, provided the same is verified at Reporting Centre / Allotted
institutes.
Due to any transactional error, if a candidate has to make the payment of initial fee
(Rs. 40,000) multiple times, CSAB-2014 will refund the full amount received
except Rs. 40,000 in the same account (only) if later on it is found that these multiple
transactions have been credited in CSAB-2014 account.
11
Candidate should note that the initial fee (Rs. 40,000) paid by the candidate to CSAB2014 in any of the round including spot round is part of the total fee of the allotted
institute. Balance amount, if any, has to be paid at the time of taking admission in the
allotted institute.
Candidate should carefully note the difference between State of Domicile and State
of Eligibility. 'State of eligibility' means the state/UT from where the candidate has
passed his / her (10+2) or equivalent examination.
For example a candidate will have Haryana as State of Domicile if he/she gets a
bonafied resident certificate caste certificate from Haryana. List. If the candidate
passing his/her qualifying exam (10+2 or equivalent) from Haryana itself, his/her
State of eligibility will be Haryana and he/she will be eligible for Home State Quota at
NIT Kurukshetra, and other state quota at all other NITs. However, if this candidate
passes his/her qualifying exam (10+2 or equivalent) from Rajasthan his/her State of
eligibility is Rajasthan and he/she is eligible for Home State Quota at MNIT Jaipur,
and other state quota at all other NITs including NIT Kurukshetra.
Candidates should note that during verification of documents at the time of reporting,
if any discrepancy is detected in original documents, including category, sub-category,
state of eligibility and gender, then their allotted seat may be cancelled and they may
not be considered for any further round of allotment.
Candidates should themselves ensure that the personal information provided by them
is genuine and authentic.
Candidates should not disclose / share their password with anybody. They must
understand that they are solely responsible for safe guarding their passwords. Neither
CSAB-2014 nor NIC is responsible for any misuse of their passwords.
Candidates should understand that in spot round, if they are allotted a seat, they will
not be eligible for any refund of initial fee.
Candidates should be aware of the fee structure of the institutes where they are
interested to take admission. The fee structure of different participating institute may
be different.
For details about the infrastructure, hostel facility, fees, placement record etc.,
candidates are advised to contact the respective institute or to visit their website.
CSAB 2014 is confined only to allotment of the seats in the participating institute and
will not be responsible for any claim made by any particular institute.

the JEE(Main) results. CSAB-2014 / NIC is not responsible for any omissions on the
part of the candidate and its consequences thereafter.
Once these personal data are verified and submitted, candidates will not be allowed to

3.2
At this stage, all the registered candidates are required to fill their choices of branches and

appropriate messages, pop-ups and tabs on the computer screen. Candidate must
ensure that the pop-ups are enabled on your internet browser.
As per the eligibility of the candidate, available seat information relating to institutes,

15
date and time. earlier choices and add new choices any number of times until they
lock their final choices. Choices should be positively locked before the scheduled
Note: Candidates are advised to view the video for choice filling available on the CSAB2014 web site.
3.2.1 Choice Filling Process for Candidates Eligible for both Engineering and
Architecture Streams
There will be combined choice filling for Engineering and Architecture. A candidate
who is eligible for both Engineering and Architecture streams will be allocated only
one seat (the higher choice) from his choice list based on his/her merit. Therefore,
such candidates are advised to carefully fill their choices during choice filling. A
candidate may get a seat of higher preference of choices in the second and/or third
round of allocation.
Candidates eligible for seat allocation in both streams (Engineering and Architecture)
have to register once, and also pay the initial fee once if seat is allocated. They have
to fill up a single choice list in order of preference covering both Engineering and
Architecture streams. They must lock their choices before the scheduled date and time.
If candidates fail to explicitly lock their choices, their last saved choices will be
automatically locked after this deadline. Candidates are therefore strongly advised to
lock their choices themselves.
Candidates shall be offered only one seat based on their choice and their JEE (Main)
All India Rank (AIR) in Paper-I or Paper-II, as applicable. JEE (Main) AIR in Paper-I
and Paper-II shall be considered for seat allocation in Engineering and
Architecture/Planning respectively. Allocation of seat will be done strictly on the basis
of merit in order of preference of choices filled in by the candidates and availability of
seats.
3.2.2
Candidates MUST lock their choices only after they have finalized them but, before
the scheduled date and time. The locking of choices involves a few steps after the
LOCK button is clicked. This includes entering the password, confirming the
locking, etc. Candidate should follow all the steps carefully to complete the
locking procedure.
After the choices are locked, candidates will not be able to change their choices any
further. A printable version of the choices along with the terms and conditions agreed
by the candidate at the time of registration will be displayed once the choices are
locked. Candidates must take a printout (hard copy) of the locked choices,(which also
contains terms and conditions) sign it and produce it at the time of reporting to the
Reporting Center/allotted institute.
If a candidate fails to explicitly lock his/her choices before scheduled date and time,
his/her last saved choices will be automatically locked after the deadline. Candidates
are therefore strongly advised to lock their choices themselves and secure a printout of
these locked choices. Registered candidates who do not fill any choices or fail to save
them even once will not be considered for admission and seat allotment. Candidates
16
can login again after locking the choices; the locked choices will be displayed but
cannot now be modified or altered.
Note: SAVING a choice is NOT the same as 'LOCKING' a choice. A choice that is only
saved but not locked, can be retrieved later on and modified. The modified choice has to
be saved again and the previously filled choices will be lost once the new choices are
saved. But a choice that is locked cannot be modified again.
3.3
During this step, the choices submitted by the candidates will be processed centrally
using an allotment software developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) New
Delhi and seats will be allotted in the order of merit as per JEE(Main) AIR and on the
basis of the locked choices. The allotment result will be available on the CSAB-2014
website: www.csab.nic.in. Individual allotment letters will not be sent to the

round fall into one of the following five groups:
32
Group4(a):Registered candidates who did not get any seat allotted in the first three
rounds. These candidates may have already modified their choices during scheduled
dates and time.
Group-4(c):Candidates who got admitted to the Allotted institute and indicated their
order of preference for branches within the Institute.
Group-4(d): Freshly registered candidates who did not register during scheduled date.
Group4(e): Choices of the candidates who gave their preference for branches within
institute, at the time of taking admission during third round will also be processed for
the purpose of change in allotted category only (Branch and the institute of such
candidate will remain unchanged).
Who is not eligible for choice modification and allotment in fourth round?
Not reported at reporting centre after seat allotment in any previous round
Allotted a seat in any of the I, II or III rounds, reports to any Reporting Centre, opts
for Option I and gets a Provisional Admission Letter but neither surrenders the seat
nor reports to allotted institute for final admission.
The branch/institute choices saved/locked by candidates in Group 4(a), 4(b), 4(c), 4(d) and
4(e) will be processed centrally as per their JEE(Main)-2014 AIR, in a manner similar to the
first three rounds, and the results of the fourth round will be available on the website
www.csab.nic.in on scheduled date.
Candidates of Group-4(a), Group-4(b) and Group-4(d) who get a seat allotment in this
round shall personally report directly to the Allotted institute during scheduled dates and
time. The reporting procedure at the Allotted institute is indicated in Section 3.7 of this
brochure. The allotment of seats to candidates who do not personally report to the
allotted institute within the stipulated period will be cancelled. However, they can be
considered for seat allotment in Spot Round for which they have to register again
during scheduled dates and time.
Candidates of Group-4(c), who are already at the allotted institute and are attending the
classes after third round, shall check on the website if their branch is upgraded or not, and
contact the Admission In-charge of their institute for further instructions. There will be no
change of branch and institute of the candidates of Group 4(e), except the allotted
category, if eligible, and as per AIR.
33
4.5
Internal Sliding
Candidates admitted in allotted institute till fourth round and opted during admission at the
allotted institute will be allowed to participate in the internal sliding within their category /
sub category. The internal sliding will be based on AIR, the choice of branches given at the
time of admission to the Institute and within their category / sub category. An 'internal sliding'
will be carried out on scheduled date and time, in each of the Participating Institutes among
candidates who have joined that institute. This processing too will take place centrally. The
list of vacancies, if any, after internal sliding, will be displayed on the website
www.csab.nic.in on scheduled date and time.
4.6
The spot round consists of vacant seats available in NITs / IIITs and other GFTIs after
internal sliding (within category / sub category) along with all the seats offered by SFTIs (Self
Financed Technical Institutes). Eligible candidates (i) who have not taken admission in an
institute up to fourth round, (ii) fresh candidates who did not register earlier (iii) who
withdrew after taking admission in an institute during specified dates, may participate for the
Spot Round. Any candidate who has already taken admission in any participating institute of
CSAB 2014 and have not withdrawn will not be permitted in spot round. Intending candidates
should follow the following steps:
i. Register online afresh from places convenient to them or in any Help Centre (earlier
registrations, if any, shall stand cancelled).
ii. Pay the initial fee of Rs.40,000/-(Rupees Forty Thousand only) by online payment
using either e-Challan or Netbanking / Debit card /Credit card, the procedure of which
is given in Sections 3.4.3 - 3.4.5. Candidates who have already paid the initial fee
during any of the earlier rounds need not to pay the fee again.
iii. Fill in fresh choices against the vacancies displayed on scheduled date and time for
Spot Round and save the final choices.
iv. The candidates must lock the saved choices. If a candidate fails to explicitly lock
his/her choices by 5.00 PM on the last date of scheduled period, his/her last saved
choices will be automatically locked after this deadline. Candidates, therefore, are
strongly advised to lock their choices themselves and secure a printout of these locked
choices. Candidates can login again after locking the choices; the locked choices will
be displayed but cannot be modified or altered.
The above steps (i) -(iv) must be completed during scheduled date and time. The result
of the Spot Round of allotment will be displayed on scheduled date. Candidates are
required to report to the institute during scheduled dates and time. Admission on allotment
will be provisional, to be confirmed by the institute concerned after document verification &
payment of balance fee. Class attendance for GFTIs will be counted from scheduled date
onwards. For classes of SFTIs, follow their respective academic calendar.
Note: .
It may be noted that unlike other rounds, choice filling for the spot round must be
done with extreme care because in the spot round, a candidate is deemed to be
admitted to the institute with the allotted branch subject to fulfilling the conditions laid
34
In the case of NITs/IIITs/ other GFTIs the excess fee, if any, will be adjusted in the
second semester. However, deficit amount, if any has to be paid at the time of
reporting to the institutes.
In case of SFTIs (Self Financed Technical Institutes) the difference in dues must be
paid at the time of joining the institute. In the event of a candidate not taking
admission or cancellation of seat at the time of reporting to the allotted SFTI, due to
not fulfilling the eligibility conditions of allotted branch/institute initial fee of Rs.
40,000/- deposited by the candidate will be forfeited, however, in case the SFTI offers
admission to another candidate against that seat, the SFTI will refund the dues paid by
the first candidate deducting a processing fee of Rs. 1000/- only. Hence, the
candidates are strongly advised not to give a branch/Institute as a choice in which
s/he is not interested and also to verify him/her self the eligibility conditions of
the allotted institute/branch.
CSAB 2014 will not be responsible for any claim made by any SFTI regarding
infrastructure, quality of education, change in fee structure etc.. CSAB 2014 will
also not be responsible for refund of initial fee to a candidate allotted a seat in
any SFTIs.
It is unlikely that there will be more spot rounds. However, in case such a
situation arises, announcement will be made in the CSAB-2014 website at
appropriate time.
th
If the candidates, who have modified their choices by surrendering their seats after
third round during scheduled dates and time and have paid the fees in any previous
rounds and are allotted seats in the fourth round, do not report for admission to the
allotted institutes during scheduled dates and time, need not report to a reporting
centre for refund. In such cases the allotment of seats to the candidates will be
automatically cancelled. Candidates will get a refund of Rs. 39,000 in due course of
35
A candidate, who gets admitted to the allotted institute but withdraws on or before the
scheduled date and time, will get the refund from allotted institute in due course of
time. The amount refunded will be as per the norms of the respective institute.
Candidates who do not report for admission to the allotted institutes during scheduled
date and time need not report for refund. In such cases the allotment of seats to the
candidates will be automatically cancelled. Candidates will get a refund of Rs. 39,000
in due course of time, if do not register for the spot round. Refund will be sent to the
candidates by electronic transfer. The candidates, who register for the spot round will
be governed by the spot round refund rules.
CSAB 2014 will also not be responsible for refund of initial fee to a candidate
allotted a seat in any SFTIs.
