CONTENT

DEFINITION:
A peptic ulcer is an
excavation[ hollowed out area] of
that forms in the mucosal wall of
the stomach , in the pylorus
[opening b/w stomach &
duodenum], in the duodenum or
in the oesophagus

INCIDENCE:
It occurs mainly in the
age between 40-60 yrs of age.

ETIOLOGY:
Excessive secretion of
HCL
Infection with gram ve
bacteria[helicobacter pylori]
Alcoholism
Smoking
