CTSi Installation Guide

Overview

Welcome to CTSi 1.1. This version of the Custom Track Service application is quite different from previous versions of CTS. The goal with CTSi is to provide a simpler, more efficient tool for users.

Installing CTSi will involve two steps for first time users.

The first step is downloading and running the CTSi_setup.exe installation file. This will install the following:

An Oracle Express database

Oracle database drivers

The CTSi database

CTSi version 1.1.1.x.(1.1.0.X)

The second step is to perform the Data Migration from v5.7 to CTSi 1.1 if the user has a 5.7 database.

This guide will provide you with step-by-step instructions to successfully install CTSi.

Prerequisites

You must be connected to the Internet.

You must have Administrator Rights to the computer.

You are running Windows Vista/7/8.

You have at least 750 MB of free space on your Hard Drive.

You must have .NET Framework Version 3.5 or above.

Dealers should have already sent the checked Equipment, Customer and User input files to the CTS Help Desk at CTS@CatSupport.com. These files should be approved and uploaded to CTSi Web by Cat Support to install the CTSi program.

CTSi User Database Restore

If there is a need to restore a previous version of the CTSi database, follow these steps. This process assumes that the database has been backed up when prompted on a previous entry into the CTSi application. In order to run the restore process, the CTSi application must be closed. If it is not closed, please do so before proceeding to the first step.

Step 1 - Bring up the run menu

In Windows Explorer, navigate to the appropriate location. The sub-directory will be Caterpillar\CTSi\bak, but the path before that will depend on the operating system. For example, if the user has Windows 7 the path will be “C:\ProgramData\Caterpillar\CTSi\bak”.

Step 2 Verify Files

Verify the following files are located in the bak directory: importdp.bat and dropscript.sql.

in the bak directory: importdp.bat and dropscript.sql . Step 3 – The Bak directory In the

Step 3 The Bak directory

In the “bak” directory, select the backup file that will be used to restore the CTSi database. This will probably be the most recent file. The naming convention used for the backup files is as follows:

[two digit month][two digit date][four digit year].dmp. The file name corresponds to the date the backup file was created.

Ex: 07072013.dmp would be the backup file that was created by running the backup process on July 7,

2013.

4)

Once the mouse cursor is hovering over the importdp file, release the left mouse button.

5)

A console window will display when the import process executes, and it will close when it has completed.

a.

The log file for the import will be saved in the same directory with the name importlog.log”.

b.

NOTE: Do not close the console window during the import process. If for some reason you find that is necessary, you will need to start the process over and let it complete to successfully restore the database and enable use of the CTSi application.
