2. Backing up the PNMS Settings


Refer to the PNMS Operation Manual for details.
[NOTE]
Please use backup a directory other than the PNMS installation directory to backup the PNMS
settings.
Otherwise the backup PNMS setting files may be inadvertently deleted.

3. Uninstalling PNMS

Open Add/Remove Programs Properties on Control Panel


[Start] Menu [Control Panel] Menu

Click Uninstall a Program in the Control Panel.

Double-click PNMSj on Unistall or change a program window.

(4)

The User Account Control window appears. Click [Continue].

Introduction window appears. Click [Uninstall].

During uninstallation, this window appears.

(7)

Click [Done] to close the PNMS installation wizard.

[NOTE]
Delete following directories when you wish to delete all files related to PNMS.
-

PNMSj Install Directory.


This directory is C:\PNMSj when default install.

PNMSj Stored Log Directory.


This directory is C:\Documents and Settings\<User name>\My Documents when
default install.

5. Restoring the backup setting files


Refer to the PNMS Operation Manual for details.
To enable PNMSj client use, the following setup must again be done.
Please refer to the following manuals for the setup detail.

- Server Setting Manual

Please perform the following procedure when upgrading from any PNMSj Version prior to
1.19.xxx.xxx. (Rebooting is necessary after performing this procedure.)

[NOTE]
If and when Update Network Configuration is done without performing this procedure, Group
Map data will be initialized with all NEs being deleted and added.
NCT file is necessary to perform this procedure. If a specific NE does not exist in applicable
NCT file being used, its location in Group Map and related properties of that particular NE will
be initialized.

(1) Please create nct folder under [PNMSj installation folder]\config.

(2) In nct folder created above, please save NCT file used to backup data.

[NOTE]
Created nct folder will automatically change to nct[current time] after PNMSj is rebooted.

6. Updating Configuration files and Executing PNMS


(1)

Click Start ALL Programs PNMSj PNMS to start the application.

(2)

PNMS configuration data is updated when PNMS Login window appears.


If you wish to customize new functions, the PNMS will finish. Otherwise, you may
continue using PNMS.

(3)

Configure the PNMS setting files and run the PNMS.

7. Clearing PNMSj Client Cache (Solaris)


When using PNMSj client, follow the procedures described below (the screen shots are
from Solaris 10).
(1)

Open the terminal by right-clicking anywhere on the desktop to display the workspace
menu and input command : javaws uninstall, if you want to clear all caches.

(2)

If you want to clear any cache, input the command on the Terminal window: javaws
viewer

Select cache to clear and click

button.

(4)

Continue repeating step (3) until every PNMSj JAVA Web Start application has been
removed.

Following the instructions in the PNMS Client Installation Manual with Java Web
Start manual, launch the PNMSj client server.

8. Clearing PNMSj Client Cache (Internet Explorer)


When using PNMSj client with Internet Explorer, follow the procedures described below.
(1)

Open the Control Panel and select Java.

(2)

This opens the Java Control Panel. On the [General] tab click [Setting] button.

Click the [Delete Files] button.

(4)

Confirm that checking on [Application and Applets] and [Trace and Log Files].
Click [OK].

(5)

Select Internet Options in the Control Panel and open the Internet property window.

In Internet Explorer 6, on the [General] tab click the [Delete Files...] button under
Temporary Internet files. Go to step 9.

In Internet Explorer 7, on the [General] tab click the [Delete Files...] button under
Browsing history.

Click the [Delete Files] button under Temporary Internet files.

Following the instructions in the PNMS Client Setting Manual with Internet
Explorer manual, launch the PNMSj client server.
