CHEMICAL
ENGINEERING STUDENTS {UP ALCHEMESJ, a premier and duly recognized organization from the
College of Engineering of the University of the Philippines Diliman. Its projects are targeted to
prornote leadership- camaraderie and the spirit of volunteerism arnong its members, as well as to
provide service to the department college, universigr and country.

Steered by our visions, UP AL{HEMES organizes tlre annual ChEer UP Pinoy * a nationwide event
which aims to help fellow Filipinos through communify projects and workshops. Now on its third
year, ChEer UP Pinoy continues to give a helping hand to the less fortunate communities in Luzon,
Visayas and Mindanao. With this event UP ALCHEMES hopes to inspire and spark change not only
to its beneficiaries, but aiso to its members.

For Visayas, ChEer UP Pinoy pla*s to extend its ser,rice to the P$K-LIGHT Village comrnunity in
Brgy, Licu-an on December l7-L9,2A14. As part of this even! a project that will help address
one of lhe chosen commuuity's problems will be arranged" In additisu.. aetivities thal aspire ta
contribute to the quality education of elementary and high school students in your community will

wHAT IS UP ALCHEMES?
The UP Academic League of Chemical Engineering Students {UP ALCHEMES} is a rencwned
academic organization based in the College of Engineering of University of the Philippines-

Diliman. lt has contributed to a number of alumni topnotchers in the ChE Board Examinations.
ln 2005, the organization was recognized by the NationalYouth Commission and was selected
as finalist in Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations. ln addition, it has won second place in
2013 and first place in 2O1O in the Engineering Organieation Exce$lence Awards {EOEA} and
has been in the top five since 2008. The organization has also won Academic Excellence Award
having the highest General Weighted Average in college for 5 consecutive years. Steered by
our care values SHAPE- service, humility, acadernics, professionalism and excellence, we pave
ways for Chemical Engineering students towards well-raunded development in college.

WHAT IS OUR EVENT?

Service, being one of our organization's core values, is integrated

to our original intent of

Bushing forward edueation and environmental awareness. This is aehieved through ChEer UP
Pinoy, an annual nationwide service event of UP ALCHEMES, which aims to have a meaningful

and lasting contribution to each of the chosen communities from NeR, Luzon, Visayas and
Mindanao by promoting quality education through workshops and seminars, and providing
service programs to the community's further development. During its pioneering year, ChEer
UP has been recognized as the Best Service Project in the tngineering Organization Exeellence
Awards and awarded by the Philippine lnstitute of Chemical Engineers- Junior Chapter Luzon
as Best Community Development Proiect last March and April 20L3, respectively.

aims to
address the major problems of the cCImrflunity such as electricity,
water supply and livelihood through practical and sustainable
sclutions.

Edify

focuses "fun in learning". lt encourages education by

promoting an alternative and fun learning experience as a tool in
teaching grade school students. fducation is redefined through the
incorporation of fun and lnformational activities for the students of
the public elementary school.

ChEduc6tion ro.ui, on youth ernpo\{/ermenr by

promoting tertiary education and utilizing education as an
impartant key in the improvement of quality of life. This will be
achieved through informatisnal and inspirational talks and
workshops from different people who the students may relate tCI,
as well as representatives fram different institutians providing
college scholarship grants.
