Walking in the Peace of God

Cynthia Wilson Ministries, Inc. www.cynthiawilson.org Devotion for week of 011810

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.”

Jeremiah 17: 7

A woman of God, excited about what God is doing and where He is taking
her. He answers her prayers, blesses her with a beautiful home. She had made a
covenant with God to be used for His glory. Little did she know that with the
blessing will also come a transformation; a metamorphosis into something God-
ordained, yet so painful. God strategically brought about a change in her innermost
being. Just as olives are crushed to get the oil, she was broken and crushed to
receive the anointing of the Lord. She taught other women about trusting God and
letting go of the past and reaching forward to what God has planned for them.

In the midst of this transformation, she begins to have difficulty trusting God.
The enemy, Satan worked overtime to get her into doubt and unbelief. Yes, her
faith was on trial, she was being tested.

One weekend, as she was walking through the mall, she came upon a
beautiful, crushed velvet pillow with these words engraved in gold. “Blessed is the
man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.” (Jeremiah 17:7). As she
looked at the words, the words became rhema words, alive, living words that spoke
to her heart. She purchased the pillow and hung it in her bathroom from the
dangling gold cord. Each morning she looked at the pillow with the rhema words
and it would remind her of the promise of God. That you are blessed if you trust in
God.
She begins to spend vast amounts of time in the Word of God and in prayer.
Meditating on the Word and worshipping God. Soon thereafter, God’s peace
would literally shield her soul from the outside forces of the enemy. She begins to
experience a “peace” in her soul as never before. She delighted in drawing close to
God.

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because
he trusteth in thee. (4) Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is
everlasting strength:” Isaiah 26:3, 4 (King James Version)

“You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind
[both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself
to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. (4) So trust in the Lord (commit
yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is
an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]. Isaiah 26:3, 4 (Amplified Version)

Understand that your peace is connected to you trusting God. “To have one’s
mind…stayed (samak, “to lean upon,” or to be “sustained”) is used parallel with
trusteth. This indicates that we as believers must completely and totally trust the
Lord. We are to lean entirely on the Lord and be sustained by Him alone.

Today, you must make the choice to totally surrender and trust in God. Lean
not to your own understanding, but acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will
direct your paths.

There is a divine purpose and plan why we experience trials. However, you
can be victorious even in the midst of the transformation. Yes, we are chosen to go
through the furnace of afflictions, but you can come forth greater than pure gold.

I speak peace to you today, “The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord
make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his
countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. Numbers 6:24-26 – KJV
