Defining a Resource Instance

Trigger:

Concept
Using the Instances button in the Resources page, you can define each resource instance
(specific employee name or piece of equipment) eligible for use.

If the resource is a person, only certain people may be qualified to act as the resource. For
example, only certain people are trained to operate a drill press. Before you specify person
resource instances, you must perform the following tasks:
• Optionally, define the person resource skills needed in the Resources page, Skills region.
• Specify the employees that have the necessary skills for the resource.

If the resource is an equipment, only certain serial-numbered equipment items are usable as the
resource. Before you can specify equipment resource instances, you must perform the following
tasks:
• Create an equipment item by selecting the Equipment attribute in the Organization Item page,
Physical Attributes tab in Oracle Inventory.
• Set up serial number control for the equipment item in Oracle Inventory.
• Define the equipment item as an equipment type for the resource, to group similar types of
equipment by resource in Equipment Types page.

In this topic, you will define a person resource and equipment resource instances.
