JANUARY COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS

The St. Johns Council made plans for the
Annual Meeting and election of new
representatives to the Council at their January
21st meeting. They reviewed the list of
candidates and thanked the outgoing council
members - Kayla Mertz, David Merritt, Brett
Simonson, Linda Downs and Lori Stratton for
serving the congregation so well.
The Council members made plans to host a
pot luck dinner prior to the annual meeting and
reviewed the items that would be shared at the
meeting.
The call committee has participated in
completing the congregational profile for calling
a senior pastor. Input from the congregation is
being sought at the annual meeting.
A complete copy of the minutes is available by
mail or email by contacting the church office.

Sharing Gifts of
Extraordinary Love
Pens and pencils, a toothbrush, a quilt
ordinary items we take for granted
become treasures in the hands of their
recipients. The items you send with
Lutheran World Relief will be cherished
and used by people who take nothing
for granted, for whom even a simple bar
of new soap is special. What to include
in a personal care kit:

One light-weight bath-size towel (between

20"40" & 52"27"), dark color recommended
Two bath-size bars (4 to 5 oz.) of soap, any
brand, in original wrapping
One adult-size toothbrush in its original
packaging (Toothbrush multi-packs may be
used by sealing an individual toothbrush in a
business-size envelope; no plastic bags or
wrap)
One sturdy comb, remove packaging
One metal nail clippers (attached file
optional), remove packaging
Wrap all the items in the towel and tie securely
with ribbons or yarn. Look for the washtub in
the west hallway for your donations.
We can make a difference!

Your prayers are

requested for Melinda
McVey McCluskey as
she is ordained on
Sunday, February 8, at
Salem Lutheran Church
in Lake Mills, IA.
Melindas husband, Pr. Scot McCluskey,
served St. Johns as Associate Pastor for
2 years (1997-1999).
