CHILDRENS FASHION
ENTERTAINMENT
From solid-colors with drips running down the sides to delicate works of art,
crafting Easter Eggs is a fun part of the season and we're covering the basics to
get you started.
1. Prepare the Eggs
Hard Boiled
Place eggs in a single layer in a large pot
Cover the eggs with cold water
Bring water to a boil, then turn off heat, cover with a lid and let stand for 20 mins
Add iced water to the pot and let cool for 5 mins
Transfer eggs to a bowl or the carton to let dry; refrigerate until ready to use
Blown Out Eggs
Rinse the egg in warm water and let dry
Use a long needle to poke a small hole at both ends of the egg, making one of
the holes larger for the contents to come out
Insert the needle deep enough to break the egg's yolk
Use a baster to blow air into the egg and the yolk out the larger hole
Rinse the shell under running water, stand on end in container and let dry
2. Gather Materials
Newspaper for covering work surface
Drying rack (empty egg carton, cake rack or foam board with straight pins sticking out of it)
Cups or glass jars with dye mixed in (follow instructions on package)
Tongs for removing eggs from dye
Bowl of Water for rinsing dyed eggs
Paper towels
3. Decorate
Let eggs stand in dye for 10 - 15 minutes and let dry completely
Use a sponge to apply dye to concentrated areas
Use "reverse stencils" glued to eggs to create patterns before putting in the dye
(try leaves) or use a waxy crayon to draw a design on the egg before dipping in the dye
Apply white glue and adhere sequins, ribbons, pictures or beads

Transition Wardrobe
If youre in between sizes,
Style Expert and Author Lee
Heyward recommends you
invest in these items.
Dark Denim Jeans - in a cut
that looks best on you; straight
leg are great in general
Tailored Jacket - buy a size up
and have it taken in
Shirts That Are Long
Enough - shirts get shorter
with weight gain
Fun Tops and Blouses you can find great pieces on
a budget, they can do a great
job camouflaging troubled spots
and can be kept through your
size transition
Dresses - these are the
best investment because
they can be taken in
