ENTRY TABLE
SKILL LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE TIME: 4 HOURS COST: $111
Even if you're short on space, a narrow console table is a handy addition to an entry.
We built this from stair tread boards and table legs. Have the pieces cut at Lowe's,
then all you have to do is connect them. The wood is oak, so it's easy to apply a
traditional stain or paint it to match your space. For step-by-step instructions and
plans, go to LowesCreativeldeas.com/Extras.

Though the homeowners kept
the basic shape of the walkout
space, they strengthened its
connections to the landscape
outdoors; lightened the look
of the walls, floor, and ceiling;
and created more sophisticated
style. Views of a woodland
inspired a leaf motif.

FERNS
Lacy, delicate ferns are a
must-have for shade gardens.
Don't be fooled by their
dainty foliage. They're some
of the hardiest plants around.
Intricate fiddleheads unfurl
into fabulous ferns.
ORNAMENTAL GRASSES
Ornamental grasses are great
additions to every garden.
They're low maintenance,
grow in poor soil, add yearround interest, and come in
a variety of shapes, textures,
and sizes.
