COMMERCIAL PARTNERSHIPS, SPONSORSHIPS AND ADVERTISING

To maintain a practical balance between the funding needs of school programs and the
primary educational mission of the school district, commercial activities must comply
with the following guidelines and be approved by the Superintendent or designee.
Businesses which promote products which are a violation of other district policies are
prohibited under Policy 6115.

A. Commercial advertising affixed to district property or facilities shall


be limited to the district stadium and high school athletic arenas.

B. Care must be taken to assure that businesses are provided fair and equal
opportunity to participate in district permitted commercial activities.

C. All commercial activities shall be consistent with district policies prohibiting


discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, handicap,
age, or sexual orientation.

D. Commercial activities shall not be permitted if they are misleading, inaccurate or


not age-appropriate for the students.

E. Commercial activities shall not promote behavior not acceptable by students, or


include any activities or materials that could be manufactured into something
inappropriate or illegal for student use.

F. Except for sponsorships, commercial advertising at or in the district stadium and


high school athletic arenas will be temporary in nature and subject to a district
schedule for sizes, prices, and permitted locations.

G. All commercial advertising will be approved by the building Principal and/or


designee and the Department of Learning and Teaching Athletics Office.

H. Commercial advertising banners will be limited to providing business name,


address or e-mail (website) address, and phone number.

I. The fee schedule shall be reviewed annually for market adjustments and is
available through the District Business Office and the Department of Learning
and Teaching Athletics Office. Fees will be included on the list of district fee
schedules. Fees will be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors
annually.

SPONSORSHIPS

1. For the purpose of this procedure, official sponsporships shall be


limited to the District stadium and high school atheletic arenas.

2. Official sponsorship of District stadium or school athletic sites is not


limited to a one year contract.
