Dashboard – Bring ‘Everything’
together!

Dataspire Dashboard

As web-based information systems and online data resources continue to become more
prevalent in education, many teachers and school administrators face the growing
challenge of accessing data from a variety of sources. In a typical school, college or
academy, it is not uncommon to find a multitude of ICT-based systems that teachers
and students are required to use as part of their daily routine. For some, this can be a
frustrating and a time consuming process, given that each system may have a separate
username and password.
Dataspire Dashboard is a unique application that offers an innovative solution to
personalising and centralising web-based information systems. Dashboard provides an
easy to use web-portal where students, teachers and school administrators can easily
access a central, single point of online information and online resources. Using push
technologies data can be retrieved from database driven applications showing only the
information that is relevant to the user.

From displaying the school calendar, digital notice boards, resource bookings, SIMS and
email integration, Dashboard combines your existing online technologies with innovative
21st Century utilities and tools.

SuperMemo – mLearning

◦ The learning mode and

preparing a study plan
for a given day,
◦ The option of creating new courses by users,
Thanks to the SuperMemo application for iPhone users can define and create their own
multimedia courses, based on the exercises of their own design. With your own courses
you can study the materials you have created yourself, making use of the advantages of
the SuperMemo method.
The course editor allows users to define various types of pages: the chapter and
presentation pages, and also the question and answer, fill the gaps and multiple choice
exercise pages. The editing process in itself is supported with many tools which simplify
creating, editing and transferring exercises within the course structure. A user-made
course is available only on the iPhone it has been defined for.

The SuperMemo courses support your learning efforts by creating your personal study
plan for a given day. It includes the number of repetitions, the material you possibly need
to revise and the new material.

The fast learning courses are based on the SuperMemo

revising method. When you solve an exercise, the
application checks if the answer is correct and, at the same
time, shows the auto-grade buttons. Users can choose their
own grade and the application calculates the date of the next
revision using the abovementioned algorithm of repetitions.

Authorities, Regional Broadband Consortia and parents, e-safe education provides the

Schools radio – FREE!

SchoolsRadio.com is run as a charity and is largely operated on a volunteer basis. It is

there to help and exists solely to encourage all school students throughout the United
Kingdom to get involved in making radio. Radio broadcasts might be over the air with a
licence from Ofcom, over the Internet, a podcast that can be downloaded or just relayed
by wire in the building. Indeed, if you can find another way of doing it we’ll happily call it
radio.

The website aims to provide a whole range of useful advice for teachers, supervisors and
students. Equally important it provides a forum in which all those involved in schools
radio can share the views and experiences. Teachers and other station managers are also
encouraged to submit the best of their programming to SchoolsRadio.com so that it may
be made available for listening by others.

Equipped with Laser & LED Hybrid Light Source

World First High-Brightness projector without mercury

CASIO successfully developed an original new semiconductor light source technology

combining a Red by red LED, Blue by a blue laser and Green converted by phosphor
from a blue laser. This source achieves high luminance over 2000 ANSI lumens safely by
employing a phosphor device to modify the wavelengths and phases of blue laser light
through DLP® system.
Long-life light source with
reduced brightness
degradation
Adopting a new
semiconductor-based system
has enabled CASIO to realize
10 times of longer light
source life of approximately
20,000 hours. Compared with
conventional high-brightness
projectors employing
mercury lamps (such as XJ-
S58), this cuts the cost as
well as the time and effort
involved in exchanging lamps
dramatically, while at the
same time maintaining clear,
high-quality images over an
extended period by reducing

Music School Manager

Written in-conjunction with Mortimer Rhind-Tutt, Senior Music School Master at Millfield
School in Somerset, the system has been written by Music Master Specialists with a
passion for music.
The philosophy behind the development of the MSM system has been the same as that for
all CJM software: usability and flexibility, and always tested at the sharp end, in school.

This is not just an administration system, but also, an active management system for
every aspect of a music school. It provides relevant information for teachers and music
administrators alike in the format that they want and need to see it.

With key members of the development

team having direct experience of
running a music department, this has
directly influenced the design of the
system to ensure that it covers all the
key areas that a Music School Master
would need to run a Music Department
and much, much more.
Whilst we can describe the system in
some detail, the ease of use and the
flexibility only really becomes apparent
when you have a look at the system.

Online marking – Red Pen tool
Intuitive on-screen marking, annotation and
assessment tool for teachers.
The Red Pen Tool provides an intuitive means for teachers to mark, annotate and add
assessment notes to student work digitally – just like you are used to doing on paper!

• No need to install any special software – Until now, when assessing student
work electronically, you must have installed on your computer the actual software
application that the student used to create the work in order to actually view
the work. All you need to use the Red Pen Tool is a Flash plug-in. The Red Pen
Tool then automatically converts the student coursework into a Flash readable file
format which teachers can access automatically.
• Teachers can add notes or comments, indicate where in the work that
a learning/assessment objective has been met, assign marks in the margin,
highlight sections of the student coursework – just like teachers already do now
on paper.
• The original student coursework is not altered – All teacher comments,
notes and annotations appear on a separate transparent layer that sits on top of
the original student work.
• Teachers can share their comments and the marked work with their students
electronically via the Red Pen Tool.

Film Club

FILMCLUB
gives pupils
and teachers
the chance to
explore the world of film through after school film clubs. With free weekly screenings,
online reviewing, industry events and hands on support, FILMCLUB inspires, excites and
opens up new avenues for learning.

SO WHAT’S SO GOOD ABOUT IT?

Although it’s fun just watching movies with your friends, that’s not all FILMCLUB offers.
Immersing yourself in a vibrant mix of vintage hits, international classics, blockbusters,
art movies and all points in between, seeing films made years ago and others fresh out
this week, stories produced in every corner of the world… well, it’s a surefire way to find
yourself dazzled, provoked, amused, shocked and uplifted. (And sometimes all at once.)
CAN I JOIN?
From the biggest inner-city secondary to the smallest rural primary school, all state-
funded schools in England can become part of the FILMCLUB community for free. Teachers
or 6th form students can join up online and we’ll do all we can to help you run a great film
club. (But if you’re not a teacher at a state-funded school in England and you’re interested
in what we do, don’t worry – we’ll see if we can help.)

WILL I LEARN ANYTHING?

We’ll be encouraging you to watch films from all over the world, made in every possible
era, so you can explore countless different cultures, characters and new ways of telling
stories. By discussing and writing about the films, you’ll sharpen your critical skills and
impress your friends with your encyclopedic film knowledge.

IS IT REALLY FREE?
Yes – FILMCLUB is absolutely free if you’re a state funded school in England. We believe
that all young people deserve access to as many films made as possible. Funding from
the Department for Children, Schools and Families is helping us to make that happen.

Room and Resource booking
system
The online Room Booking System
maximises the usage of rooms and
facilities within schools by increasing
efficiency whilst eliminating double
bookings. The system is unique as it
integrates with the school timetable
(single, bi-weekly, x-day) accounting for timetabled lessons therefore the room can only
be booked when it is free of lessons.
Why use the Room Booking
System?
The web based room booking
software can be accessed from
any internet connected computer.
There is nothing to set up or
install. Double bookings are
eliminated as the system
manages the scheduling of rooms
and resources on its own as
opposed to a member of staff.
Maintenance is simple yet flexible
allowing the system to run by
itself without the manual work
load associated with paper based booking systems.

BIO Recognition – BSF?
As the world grows more sophisticated,
you need to be sure the access control
systems you install are capable of
handling today’s security challenges.
Both BioLock+ and its big brother BioScan meet those challenges. The demand for higher
security and the use of biometrics as a way to atchieve it, is increasing. Keys (even
electronic keys) can be copied, lost, borrowed or stolen. The fingerprint Provides a ‘key’
that does not have these traditional problems. With BioLock+ and BioScan, Bio
Recognition Systems (BRS) have taken that ‘key’ and designed the ‘lock’. Both products
use radio frequency sensor technology to read below the skin to the fingerprint
underneath, providing a secure solution that will only read a real finger. Biolock+ provides
a cost effective solution for homes and small to medium buisnesses amd can work
standalone or as a part of a network of readers

young people in different societies, creating a safer and more connected world
for the future.

To ensure sustainability, clusters of

schools participating in the programme are
also co-ordinated by their local authority/
federation of schools, district education
office, or other co-ordinating body. Read
more about roles and
responsibilities (in the UK).
Partnerships last for two to three years,
initially, depending on the countries
involved. There is no joining fee, and participating schools and co-ordinating bodies can
receive grants to support activities that sustain their links during their involvement in the
