A power station has to meet the following demand.
Group A: 200 KW between 8 A.M to 6 P.M
Group B: 100 KW between 6 A.M to 10 A.M
(10)
Group C: 50 KW between 6 A.M to 10 A.M
Group D: 100 KW between 10 A.M to 6 P.M and then between 6 P.M to 6 A.M.
Plot the load curve. Calculate diversity factor, units generated/day, load factor

b) Two 750 Kw alternator operate in parallel. The speed regulation of 1 machine is set from 100% to
103% from full load to no-load and that of the other is 100% to 104% from full load to no-load.
(5)
How will the alternator share a load of 1000Kw and at what load will one machine cease to supply
any portion of the load
Obtain the dynamic analysis of LFC for single area with uncontrolled and controlled case
(10)
For an isolated single area, consider the following. Rated capacity (P r) = 1000MW, Operating load
(PD) = 500 MW, Inertia constant (H) = 5secs, Regulation (R) = 5 Hz/P.U M.W, Frequency = 50Hz.
Find the gain constant and time constant. The load decreases 1% for a decrease of frequency by (10)
1%. If it is an uncontrolled area find out the change in frequency due to increase in load by 75
MW
Explain the modeling of AVR with necessary expressions, transfer function and block diagram

A 415 Kv line is fed through an 132/415 Kv transformer from a constant 132 Kv supply. At the
load end of the line, the voltage is reduced by another transformer of ratio 415/132 Kv. The total
impedance of the line is (40+j80) . Both transformers are equipped with tap-changing; the
(10)
product of the two off-nominal setting is unity. If the load on the system is 200 MW at 0.8 p.f
lagging. Calculate the settings of the tap changers required to maintain the voltage of 132 Kv with
its single line diagram
The fuel cost of 2 units are given by
F1 = 1.6 + 25 PG1 + 0.1 PG12 Rs/hr
F2 = 2.1 + 32 PG2 + 0.1 PG22 Rs/hr.
