Whatever good things we build, end up building us.

-Jim Rohn
My passion for architecture started building up slowly in me like a city.
Brick by brick, Ive built upon the foundation of experiences that Ive lived. My
life blueprint involves people that have influenced this passion. My interest in
architecture began innocently and inadvertently at home, developed further with
my first trip to Europe, and continues to impact my everyday life.
Before I could fully comprehend my passion for architecture, I realized that I
lived it every single day. As a child, I remember the way my mother spent hours
trying to figure out which of the paintings was the ideal one for the wall in the
living room. I remember the way she used to hang the paintings one by one until
she found one that was suitable. Does it look good? my mother asked, to
which I innocently responded, Maybe to the left?. Whenever I used to see my
father contemplate and critique the aesthetics in a house, I tried to contribute to
his judgements. Even though neither of my parents studied architecture or
anything related to it, they acted like architects.
Since my family is Catholic, they planned to take me to one of the holiest
churches that exists around the world, St. Peters Basilica. When we arrived in
the Vatican City, one thing stood out for me. One thing awakened me in ways I
couldnt explain. Even though I was young and at the time it was hard for me to
express what I was experiencing, I still can remember vividly how I felt. Standing
before this majestic infrastructure, I never had envisioned how beautiful it would
be. The building had such striking and powerful presence that in the moment I
felt dizzy and my neck hurt from staring at the ceiling. The imposing
infrastructure with immaculate aesthetics left me awestruck, but the outside was
just the beginning of the spectacle. The inside was astonishing. I stopped to
appreciate everything from the glassy marble floors to the perfectly carved gold
trimmed wooden altar. I saw how everything was impeccably constructed. I
noticed how the columns were perfectly aligned and how the arcs were
flawlessly carved creating a harmony between them. On the ceiling, the
paintings of angels inside the domes literally took my breath away. I became
flabbergasted with the massive paintings on it. I can also remember how the
light of the sun came through immense windows and how it brought life to the
whole church. What I experienced that day was something unforgettable.
This moment was one of the many buildings that now comprises my city
skyline. My ambitions have always consisted of creating innovative and iconic
structures similar to The Ville Savoye, Fallingwater, and The Glass House. I want

to be a force for change and be able to be recognized for the impact that my
structures have. Through architecture, I plan to change the skyline, I plan to
change the world.
