Ian: Hello, I am your master of ceremonies and I'd like to take the time to thank you
people for taking the time out of your day to celebrate the achievement that two of your
fellow scouts have accomplished. I'd like to introduce Harrison Mazur, who would like to
welcome you to this Court of Honor.
Welcome
Harrison Mazur
"Scouts, Parents, friends, family and distinguished guests, I would like to welcome you
to this Eagle Court of Honor. Thank you you all for coming. This is an occasion for pride
and joy, as well as a time for serious reflection. The Eagle Rank is the highest
recognition that the Boy Scouts of America offers to scouts. It is earned through the
advancement program, and only a small percentage of boys who begin in Scouting
receive this honor. The wearer of the Eagle award is the epitome of Scouting's best
efforts and beliefs. Today, we have the pleasure of seeing Caleb Darling and Brandon
DeGrandpre continue to advance their Scouting efforts when they join the company of
Eagle Scouts. Before we begin, our Troop Chaplain, Mr. Masters, will deliver the
invocation."
Invocation
Rich Masters
Heavenly Father, we ask that you bless this gathering of family and friends from near
and far who have come together today to honor and celebrate Brandon and Caleb's
attainment of the highest rank in Scouting, that of Eagle. Father, we also ask your

blessing on their families, Scout leaders and fellow scouts who have guided and
supported Brandon and Caleb along the path to Eagle.
Ian: "Thank you Mr. Masters. I will now call upon Mr. Jackson Gaylord, Arrowhead
District Director, to describe the significance of the Eagle rank."
Significance of the Eagle Rank
Jackson Gaylord
The Scouting movement, begun by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, constitutes one of the
most wholesome and significant influences in the world today. Many successful, wellknown persons are Eagle Scouts -- former President of the United States Gerald Ford;
most of the original astronauts; and, many leaders in business and industry. The Eagle
candidate whose efforts culminate this afternoon has labored long to enter this
brotherhood. He will assume even greater responsibilities to the ideals of honor and
service. When he pledges himself on his sacred honor, he will be sealing his loyalty to
the code of the Eagle Scout with the words which closed the Declaration of
Independence.
We all know that the eagle is a large bird of prey with sharp vision and powerful wings,
famous for their strength, size, grace, and keen vision. It is the national emblem for the
United States. Though the eagle is found throughout the world, it is never found in
abundance. It is rare, and if you have had the chance to see one in the wild, you know
that they are magnificent.
In Scouting the eagle stands for strength of character, knowledge, courage, and
commitment. The eagle represents the ideals of understanding of community and
nation, and a deep respect for these institutions. The eagle is a symbol of what a young
man has done as well as what that young man will do, and will be, when he grows to
manhood. The eagle is a leader. The eagle is respected, both by his peers and by his
adult leaders.
The Eagle Scout rank is the highest award available to youth members of the Boy
Scouts of America. It is a recognition by the National Court of Honor, presented through
the local council and a local court of honor. It represents many years of dedicated
effort, and the successful completion of a long process, which started when the young
man became a Boy Scout. It is a demonstration of how people, working together, can
truly help mold a young man with a solid sense of leadership, citizenship, and
responsibility.
Eagle is the highest and most coveted award in all of Scouting, and it is the last major
step in the advancement program. It is at this point that Scouting has achieved its
purpose in these Eagles:
-in building and participating in citizenship
-in growth of moral strength and character
-in development of physical, mental, and emotional fitness

"Will all of those in the audience who have earned Boy Scouting's highest award, the
Eagle Scout, please stand. Congratulations and thank you. You may be seated.

Pledge to Brandon and Caleb. Will Mr. Mazur, Brandon and Caleb please come

Eagle Pledge

Jeff Mazur

Brandon and Caleb will now take the Eagle Scout pledge. Will you both please raise the
scout sign and repeat after me:
On my honor, I will do my best, to do my duty to God. On my honor, I will do my best, to
do my duty to my country. I reaffirm my allegiance to the three promises of the Scout
Oath. I thoughtfully recognize and take upon myself the obligations and responsibilities
of the rank of Eagle Scout.
On my honor, I will do my best to make my training an example, and make my rank and
influence strongly count for better scouting and for better citizenship, in my troop, in my
community, and in my contact with other people, regardless of race, color, or creed. To
this, I pledge my sacred honor.
Will Scoutmaster Lefebvre please join me for the presentation of the Eagle Award.
Eagle Award Presentation

Steve Lefebvre

Would Mr. and Mrs. Darling and Mr. and Mrs. DeGrandpre please come to the front.
(pause to allow Mr. and Mrs. Gowell to arrive) Brandon and Caleb, your parents have
been a constant source of support for the years you have spent on your trail to Eagle.
They are very proud of you, as are all of us in Troop 22. Your mothers have given you
love, encouragement and support for many years, not only in Scouting, but also in your
many other activities. It is with great pleasure that I ask them to pin the Eagle medal on
your uniform. (hand medals to moms for pinning) Over the years, Brandon and Caleb,
you have had the chance to pin many mother's pins on your mothers This afternoon you
have the honor of pinning the Eagle pin on her clothes and thanking her one more time
for all that she has done for you. (give the mother's pins to Brandon and Caleb).
Brandon and Caleb, I now call upon your fathers to place the Eagle neckerchief around
your neck. (give the neckerchiefs and slides to fathers) Your fathers, too, have helped
you along the Eagle trail and in all other aspects of your lives. They have been there for
you when you needed help and they have always encouraged you to achieve and learn
in your endeavors. Please pin these Eagle tie tacks on their ties. (give the tie tacks to
Brandon and Caleb) Would both of the Eagle advisors of these young men please come
forward. (Wait for them to come forward). Your advisors have supported you, offered
you advice, and mentored you in leadership. You chose them to guide you on your
Eagle project. They have played a pivotal role in your completion of the Eagle rank, as
well as many of your other scouting endeavors. Please acknowledge their contributions
to your achievement by pinning the Mentor pin on their pocket flaps.
Thank you. I'd like the two Eagle Scouts to remain standing. All others may return to
their seats.
Ian: We will now ask Mr. Morin to give the Eagle Charge.
Eagle Charge

Ron Morin

Brandon and Caleb, I charge you to enter this Eagle Scout brotherhood holding ever
before you, without reservation, the ideals of honor and service. Through your hard
work and dedication, and by committing to the Eagle Scout pledge before your fellow
Eagle members, you have become an Eagle Scout. The words you used just now in this
pledge are similar to those by which you joined Scouting, and which you have repeated
many times since in the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. However, today they mean
more than they ever could have meant at any time in the past. When you pledged
yourself on your sacred honor, you sealed your eternal loyalty to the code of the Eagle
Scout. By the authority vested in me by the National Court of Honor of the Boy Scouts
of America, it is my privilege and pleasure to pronounce you, Brandon Tyler
DeGrandpre and Caleb Benson Darling, Eagle Scouts. May the oath you have taken
remain true in your hearts. You are deserving of much credit in having achieved
Scouting's highest award. However, wear your award with humility, ever mindful that the
Eagle Scout is looked up to as an example. May the Scout Oath and the Scout Law be
your guide tomorrow and onward. Ladies and Gentlemen, friends, family and scouts, I

present to you Troop 22's newest Eagle Scouts Caleb Darling and Brandon
DeGrandpre.
Ian: Thank you Mr. Morin. Would Mrs. Rooks please come forward for the National
Eagle Scout Association presentation.
