Which Grades does DBF offer?

We offer Foundation Stage One and Foundation Stage Two. DBF will be the feeder school to
Taaleem's Dubai British School Jumeirah Park (DBSJP) that will open in Jumeirah Park in
September 2015, offering Year 1 to Year 13. Complete the DBSJP Inquiry Form or Application
Form.

When did DBF open?

DBF opened as scheduled in September 2014.
How can I apply?
You can apply for a seat for your child/ren by completing the Online Application Form.
Alternatively, visit us at our Admissions Office, which is open Sunday to Thursday, 8am to 4pm.

How many students per classroom?

At DBF our class sizes are kept to a minimum as per KHDA regulations with 20 students per
class. There will be one Early Years Teacher and one Early Year s Educator for each class of
children.

What are the school days and timings?

School days in the United Arab Emirates run from Sundays to Thursdays, 8am to 1.30pm. The
s hool s administration offices are open Sundays to Thursdays, 8am to 4pm.

What is the length of the school year?

The school year starts in early September and ends at the end of June.

Does DBF provide transportation?

DBF does not provide transportation, however, if there is a high demand by parents, DBF may
outsource this service, at an additional cost to parents.

How does the parking and drop-off work/pick-up work?

As per RTA regulations, all parking, drop-off and pick up are done inside the school premises.

Where is the school located?

DBF is ideally located in Du ai s Jumeirah Islands residential development, in close proximity to
The Springs, Emirates Hills, Dubai British School and Taaleem's new British School opening in

What about Extra-curricular Activities (ECAs)?

A range of ECAs, included in the tuition fee, are offered by DBF teaching staff.. ECAs provided
by external suppliers are optional and parents are required to pay the supplier directly for
these.

Does DBF cater for exceptional children?

Yes, we provide for gifted children and those needing learning support.

Do the children wear uniform?

Yes, DBF has a uniform policy. Uniforms are available at ZAKS in Al Barsha. Click here for further

Does DBF have dining facilities?

Parents are asked to provide their children with lunchboxes containing healthy snacks, lunches
and beverages. We do not allow fizzy drinks or foods containing nuts. There will be a canteen to
be used by staff members.

Age Cut-off Date?

A child must be 3 years old by 31 August to enrol in FS 1 and 4 years old by 31 August to enrol
in FS 2.

Does DBF offer after-school care?

Not in the traditional sense but we are offering Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) conducted by
our teaching staff at no additional cost. ECA s offered by an external provider are at an
additional cost.

What is the level of qualifications the teachers are required to have

accomplished.
Every teacher at DBF will have an internationally recognised teaching qualification, with
experience in Early Years. DBF teachers will have a minimum of at least two years qualified
teaching experience. All teachers need to be approved by the KHDA (Knowledge and Human
Development Authority). They are required to have completed 12 years of Primary and
Secondary education; they must hold a degree (B.Ed.) or Degree and Teaching Certificate or
equivalent (e.g. BA / BSc. + PGCE) and a

Does the school provide English as a second language?

Young children can integrate quickly into class with support of DBF s E glish as an Additional
La guage (EAL) programme, which is one of the unique sets of programmes that we will be
offering to our students. The key focus is to assist students to become proficient in English.

What languages do you offer?

DBF has English as the first language and language of instruction, with the addition of Arabic
taught in a unique, innovative and child-friendly manner.

Why incorporate Arabic in the learning programme?

Whether your child has had a wealth of exposure to the Arabic language and culture or hardly
any at all, our programme of learning at DBF will excite and inspire your child to go forward and
learn more.
Our bi-lingual Arabic/English specialist teacher will teach Arabic through song and ha ds-o
cross-curricular learning; capitalising on the young hild s natural ability to absorb language
through meaningful experiences.
Fostering a love of the language and culture, the main emphasis will be upon promoting
confidence in speaking Arabic and listening to spoken Arabic with understanding.
Your child is exposed to the Arabic language in spoken and written form, and to the Arabic
culture, as a natural consequence of living in Dubai. As your child grows to understand more of
the language and culture, he/she will feel increasingly secure and at ho e in their
environment.
Arabic is the official language of over 20 countries and there are well over 300 million native
speakers of Arabic throughout the world, so the ability to speak Arabic is a valuable skill to
begin to acquire from a very young age.

Your child will learn about the art, music, literature and cuisine of the region and the values of
honour, dignity and generosity that have such importance in Arabic culture.
Our overarching aim is to for your child to love learning Arabic and to move on to primary
school with great enthusiasm to learn more.

Does DBF have a clinic?

DBF provides a Health Centre with a full-time nurse and a visiting doctor. Parents are required
to complete a Student Medical Form prior to admissions, which they will need to update
annually to ensure that DBF can provide the appropriate medical support as and when
required.

Where do the teachers come from?

The majority of our teachers are British. We hire teachers internationally to find the best
practitioners from around the globe. All our teachers are be highly trained and qualified and
have all the requirements as per KHDA guidelines. Administrative staff are international and
hired locally and internationally.
