Installation Sequence (Experimental)

1.

Purpose and description

This tool allows you to quickly pick any object in the model and create an installation
sequence order list to create a simulated installation animation. This is useful for Sales and
Preconstruction presentations. This is similar to the Tekla Animator except it works with
reference model objects, doesnt require user defined attributes or object representation, and
can be used in conjunction with the reports created using the Template Editor to help make
automated rules to define the installation sequence.

Usage

To use the application:

selected items will be added to the list in the order in which you selected them.

2.

Repeat this process as needed.

3.

You will notice once you do that those objects will be hidden from the model so
you can keep track of which items were already processed.

4.

You can also run a report that lists any object types GUID or ID. One hint here is
to create reports with the template editor that sort and filter objects by name,
location, user defined attribute, or schedule data value fields but only output the

GUID or ID and the sorting/filtering value fields are set to Hide on Output. This
allows you to create any customized intelligence for automatically creating the
installation sequence vs. hand picking each one in the model.
5.

You can also save items in the list as XSR files for later use if you want to break
the model into smaller parts.

6.

Also if you choose the Open button you can browse to multiple XSR report files
that were either saved or run with the Report generator in order to load many

Colorized Model by Tasks from the Task Manager. A report was created using the Template
Editor to report out the Task IDs sorted by the hidden value field of Planned Start Date.

This is an example of setting the object representation to show the MEP as solid and then
creating an installation sequence showing how the MEP is installed makes it clear where in
relationship to the entire project the MEP goes and exactly where and when it will need to be
installed.
