Title 24 Overview

Digital Lumens Intelligent LED Lighting System

& California's Energy Efficiency Standard
TITLE 24 SMART LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS
Beginning July 1, 2014, pursuant to Title 24, Section 6, Part 130.1, all commercial and industrial building lighting systems shall have:
MANUAL CONTINUOUS DIMMING AND ON/OFF CONTROL: Manual lighting controls must be accessible on
a room-by-room basis, to give occupants the ability to change lighting behavior throughout the day or shift, as their work
patterns and needs change.
The LightRules Keypad is a wall-mounted controller with eight conf igurable buttons that each trigger a unique, pre-programmed
lighting prof ile. Easy to install, conf igure, and use, Keypad allows users on the building floor to instantly activate preset prof iles.
TASK TUNING: Task tuning is the ability to cap a light fixture's light output at a level less than 100% because full power
is not necessary to sufficiently illuminate a particular space.
LightRules allows users to conf igure Digital Lumens' intelligent LED f ixtures to lighting levels anywhere from 0 to 100% of
maximum output.
OCCUPANCY SENSORS: Occupancy sensors are required in corridors and stairwells, aisles and open areas in warehouses,
offices 250 ft 2 , conference rooms of any size, multi-purpose rooms <1000 ft 2 , and classrooms of any size, and lighting in
these areas must be dimmed during unoccupied periods.
Every Digital Lumens' intelligent LED f ixture utilizes a high-performance occupancy sensor and full-range, 0-100% digital
dimming to provide maximum eff iciency in a variety of environments.
REQUIRED SHUTOFF: In areas of buildings that are not occupied 24/7, facility managers will no longer be able to leave
the lights on at all times.
The LightRules lighting and energy management system features lighting prof iles and schedules, making it easy for facility
managers to conf igure lights to turn off during periods when an area is empty. Occupancy sensors remain active in the event
that workers need unscheduled access to an area, and will trigger occupancy-based illumination.
DAYLIGHT HARVESTING: Daylight harvesting is the ability to automatically dim artificial lighting based on the amount
of natural light detected in a room or area. To achieve Title 24 compliance, daylight harvesting capability is required in both
primary and secondary side-lit areas.
Digital Lumens' intelligent LED f ixtures feature integrated photo sensors, which continually assess available ambient light and
automatically adjust light output, even dimming completely, to ensure desired light levels at the floor level and maximize efficiency.
AUTOMATED DEMAND RESPONSE: All commercial buildings 10,000 ft 2 and larger must include lighting controls that
are compatible with the local utilitys DR protocol. Building operators are responsible for programming the lighting controls
to automatically reduce lighting power consumption in response to DR signals.
Digital Lumens LightRules lighting and energy management system enables facilities to switch over to a Demand Response
lighting prof ile at a moments notice. Please note: LightRules Extended and additional third-party integration may be required.
