This utility upgrades the Blu-ray Disc player firmware to version M04.R.787 and provides the following benefits:
Improvements over firmware version M04.R.752:
Adds the ability to play 3D content using BRAVIA Internet Video and the Qriocity IPTV service
Note: The availability of services in each country may vary
Adds support for the 3D Experience content using BRAVIA Internet Video
Note: The availability of services in each country may vary
Improves YouTube connectivity
Adds the ability to play 1080/60p video files produced by Sony cameras
Improves BD-ROM playability
Improves HDMI connectivity
Resolves an uncommon issue where the Blu-ray Disc player connects to the Internet even when setting "Do not allow internet connection".
Benefits provided by previous upgrades and included in version M04.R.787:
Resolves an uncommon issue where the xross media bar language may switch to English after the Blu-ray Disc player starts up.
Improves compatibility to enhance interactivity with some BD-ROMs
Adds support for 3D content
Adds support for DLNA content
Improves router connectivity
Resolves an issue where video streamed over the Internet may be displayed at SD (Standard Definition) instead of HD (High Definition)
even when using a high speed Internet connection (10 Mbps or more) and watching video that is provided in HD.
Enhanced Gracenote Entertainment database browser features:
Adds new features such Related Information Browse and Contents Search to improve your Blu-ray Disc movie database.
Enhanced photo slideshow:
Adds new visual effects and music to add to your photos when they are displayed on a TV.
Improved Compatibility:
Adds compatibility with DTS Neo:6 to convert the audio into 5.1 or 6.1 channel format.

1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the Blu-ray Disc player is connected.
2. Power on the Blu-ray Disc player.
3. If the player starts to play a disc, press the "STOP" button and wait until the xross media bar menu is displayed on the television before
proceeding.
4. Use the arrow keys on the remote control to select "Setup" "System Settings", and then press the ENTER button.
5. Use the arrow keys to select "Quick Start Mode" and make sure that the "Quick Start Mode" is set to "Off".
If the "Quick Start Mode" is set to "On", change the setting to "Off". Otherwise, the firmware upgrade may not succeed.
6. Use the arrow keys to select "System Information", and then press the ENTER button.
7. The firmware version currently installed on the Blu-ray Disc player will be listed on the television screen.
If the last three digits of the version number are 787 or higher, it is not necessary to install this firmware upgrade.
IMPORTANT: If the last three digits of the version number are lower than 491, and the first three digits are "M03", it will be necessary to
perform the upgrade procedure twice.

There are two ways to upgrade the Blu-ray Disc player firmware:
Network Upgrade:
The Network Upgrade operation is straightforward. Sony highly recommends that you use the Network Upgrade method.
You will need to connect the Blu-ray Disc player to your Internet source using an Ethernet cable.
Please see the Network Upgrade Instructions section below, for more information.
Disc Upgrade:
If you cannot connect the Blu-ray Disc player to your Internet source, please use the disc upgrade method.
Please see the Disc Upgrade Instructions section below, for more information.

The Network Upgrade operation is straightforward. Sony highly recommends that you use the Network Upgrade method to upgrade the Blu-ray
Disc player firmware.
Important Notes
If you have not done so already, please check the current firmware version to determine if this firmware upgrade is needed for your
Blu-ray Disc player.
WARNING!! Please follow the upgrade instructions carefully. Failure to follow the instructions may interrupt the upgrade process
and may cause the Blu-ray Disc player to be unresponsive or to require repair.
WARNING!! Do not power off the Blu-ray Disc player or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Loss of power during the
installation of the firmware upgrade may cause the Blu-ray Disc player to be unresponsive or to require repair.
In order to use this upgrade method it is necessary to have the player correctly connected to an active Internet connection.
Note: If you cannot connect the player to your Internet source, please see the Disc Upgrade Instructions section below for
information about firmware upgrade disc options.
In order to perform the firmware upgrade, it is necessary to have the player correctly connected to a compatible television.
It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.

There are two different disc upgrade versions depending on the version currently installed on your Blu-ray Disc player. Please follow the instructions
below to obtain the correct version for your player.
Note: If you use the incorrect version, you will not be able to install the upgrade.
1. Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the Blu-ray Disc player is connected.
2. Power on the Blu-ray Disc player.
3. If the player starts to play a disc, press the "STOP" button and wait until the xross media bar menu is displayed on the television before
