A charge particle is free to move in an electric field. Will it always move along an electric field line?

By keeping the voltage of the charging source constant, what would be the percentage change in the energy
stored in a parallel plate capacitor if the separation between the plates were to be decreased by 20%?

Draw a circuit diagram using a metre bridge and write the necessary mathematical relation used to determine
the value of an unknown resistance. Why cannot such an arrangement be used for measuring very low
resistances?

What do you mean by angle of dip? In the magnetic meridian of a certain place, the horizontal component of
earths magnetic field is 0.26 G and the dip angle is 60. What is the magnetic field of the Earth at this
location?

Show that the average power transferred to an ac circuit is given by Pav = Erms Irms Cos , where the symbols
have their usual meanings.

15.

The magnetic field amplitude of an electromagnetic wave is 2 10-7 T. Calculate the electromagnetic field
amplitude if the wave is travelling in : (i) free space, (ii) in a medium in which the speed of wave is 0.75c.

What do you mean by power of a lens? Give its unit also. A converging lens has a focal length of 20 cm when
immersed in water. What is its nature and power? ( absolute refractive index of glass = 1.5 and absolute
refractive index of water = 1.33)

17.

A sodium surface is illuminated with light of wavelength 300 nm. The work function for sodium metal is 2.46
eV. (i) Find the kinetic energy of the ejected photoelectrons. (ii) Determine the cut-off wavelength for
sodium.

Draw a plot showing the variation of binding energy per nucleon with mass number A. Write two important
conclusions that you can draw from this plot.

obtain the expression for the potential energy of the dipole.

What do you mean by superconductivity? Give two applications of super conductors.

Ms. Ghosh a house wife aged 52 years complained of stomach ache one day. Her husband Mr. Ranjan took
her to a nearby hospital. The doctor observed her and found something wrong near her liver and suspected
malignancy. There after checking her MRI scan, a team of doctors advised her to go through Carbon radio

help of diagram.

An infinite plane sheet of charge density 2 10-8 C/m2 is held in air. In this situation, how far apart
are two equipotential surfaces where potential difference is 10 V.

Find the expression for the electric potential due to a uniformly charged ring at a point on its axis.

(b)

What is the work done in moving a 2C point charge from corner A to corner B of a square ABCD,
when a 10 C charge exists at the centre of the square?
