DIRECT ASSISTANCE FOR SUSPICIOUS

ACTIVITY
INTRODUCTION
Long waiting for Emergency or Anticipated or suspicious activity crime is a
problem that will impact a lot on victims if it ensues, while waiting they may
suffer from further injuries and catch viruses. Our solution to this is an app which
is Safe Patrol, by holding down Safe Patrol button, a user is competent to
passively connect to police. If nothing unpredicted occurs, a user simply cancels
an alert from being directed to police. If circumstances take a turn for the worse,
a user simply holds and releases the safe button to get directly connected to the
police. An example is LiveSafe mobile app (Bob Spieldenner, 2014).
3. BUSINESS SECTION
3.1 Vision
To bring direct assistance for individual in a suspicious activity without being in
waiting state and situation where preventing possibility/anticipated crime.
3.2 Industry Analysis: Emergency Communication App Industry

Industry: Emergency Communication App

emergency services and other assistance

There will be few alternatives due to a lot
of

buyers

with

many

choices

on

Emeregency applications. However there

are lot of Software developers that can
create applications and there are a variety
of suppliers for emergency services which
means supplier competition. An example is

Easy for competitors to enter the market
as there are many participants in this

software developer can make a mobile app
and enter the market which means theres
low entry barrier. An example is Kik and

People in need for emergency do not have
lot of alternatives other than Calling police
or walking to the police deparment or
emailing them. An example is automobiles.
A person must have access to automobile
in order to get around (David Highfill,

Rivalry

2004).
Rivarly is low because there is not a lot of

existing

other applications which help in this way,

competitors:

there are similar applictions with different

features. Also most emergency apps are
free and theres no fierce in the market. An
example is bsafe which is similar to Safe
Patrol but has different features (bSafe,
2015).

Overall attractiveness of the industry: The Emergency Communication

App industry is attractive because it is constant, as a lot of people are in unsafe
situation and need immediate assistance. Most of the Five Forces are low and it
is easy for business to have a competitive advantage because of the competition
among exisitng companys are quite low, So that it is an attractive industry
overall and viable.
3.3 Customers and Their Needs
Safe Patrol is for those who are uncomfortable in public places, stalking, unsafe
in automobile, a possibility/ anticipation for something bad to occur, suspicious
activity and physical abuse and harrasment. This app allows breathing time for
3

one to measure their situation and receive direct assistance of emergency

service. Therefore contacting 111 the police is not adequate during these
circumstances as occasionally slip-up can happen and one would be too late to
call the police. An example is Guardly Safety App which automatically connects
with Emergency services for students to quickly alert and communicate with
emergency (Guardly, 2015).
3.4 The Product and Service
Safe Patrol removes the hassle for people who are in a uncomfortable, stalking
situation or possibility/anticipation of something bad arising . Safe Patrol would
allow users immediate assistance for emergency services and also help you from
suffering further injuries by using the app by holding down the button for 10
seconds and all your details will be sent to the police and they will come early as
possible.

Similar

to

Safe-U

app

where

you

can

press

the

button

for

emergency(Safe-U, 2011).This is useful since it means the users will not have to
wait longer by contacting the police, emailing or walking to the emrgency
services for assistance. The application will have upadates and receiving
customers feedback and complaint is also important, if there is any breakdown
within 2 months after downloading the app, the staff will be directly allocated
there to maintain it. In responding customers feedback, staff will communicate
with them through email, after which we will try to resolve the issue.
3.5 Suppliers and Partners
Suppliers:
Software developers who are employed to design and create this application.
They are needed because they would help in simplifying the user interface and
programming the content for the application.
Google is also a supplier of Safe Patrol which provides GPS tracker to show
whereabouts the user is, this is because for direct assistance the emergency
services needs your location to come immediately.
Partners:
The New Zealand Government whose one of main focus is to reduce crime and
other suspicious activity to bring safety to New Zealanders.
4

The New Zealand Police is the main partner for the app as they are the one to
provide direct assistance to the victim during a suspicious activity or a crime .
3.6 Strategy: Cost leadership
The competitive scope for this application will be broad market this is because
many people are in an unsafe situation in some point of their lives and Safe
Patrol app will be helpful during this and also preventing anticipated or
suspicious activity mostly at public places. Also The app is compatible on both
ios and android which means this app is directed to everyone. The cost strategy
will be low as the application is free to everyone.

The overall strategy is therefore: Cost Leadership

3.7 Value Chain Activity: Research and Development
The most important value chain activity for this business is Research and
Development.
Safe Patrol app will directly assist people whenever they are in an unsafe
situation. This is closely linked to our vision that is to bring immediate assistance
for people who are in an unsafe circumstances and a victim of suspicious
activity, as for the app to successfully work R&D is required to provide direct
assistance from emergency services and also updates. Customer feedback is
also important. If there is any issues within 2 months after downloading the app
the staff will look at it and see if any development needed. The strategy for this
project is cost leadership, and the main focus is to distribute it to as many people
as possible.
3.8 Business Processes
3.8.1. CUSTOMER SERVICE PROCESS One of the main business processes of

Safe Patrol is the Customer service process. The customer retainment system will
automatically inform Emergency Communication App industry to enquire the
customer for feedback. This feedback is then sent to the research and
development department, and with the assistance of a complaints analysis
system, possible updates to the product are made and sent to the customer.

Business process model 1

3.8.2. RESEARCH AND DEVLOPMENT PROCESS This process is where the

research and development team comes up with new ideas through wide research
to be added into the app, to keep it pioneering. It involves developing new ideas
and then implementing them into the app.

3.10 Systems
3.10.1. FEEDBACK ANALYSIS SYSTEM: Receives feedback from users and stores

them so that they can be measured by customer service. If its a minor issue
such as help with the use of the app and can be really fixed simply, then a
response is sent to user. If it is a greater issue that may require redesign or
update then it will be sent to the staff to come update the app. This will satisfy
customers and there wil be no hassle for victims for direct assistance for
emergency.
Using analytical CRM
to gather data on the users most used routes and methods of transporting in
order to save time for the app user for using GPS tracker and therefore improve
user satisfaction the functionality of app. This will be helpful for victims during
suspicious activity or especially stalking, if you always transport from the same
route, the data will be saved under the app and sent to police for direct
assistance.
3.10.2. USER INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:

3.10.3. BUGS AND ERRORS DETECTION SYSTEM: This system permits the app

developers to check for any major bug or errors in their app, before announcing a
new version. This means that the app will always be consistent, without major
bugs in updates, so that customers are satisfied. This links to vision by direct
assistance for individuals without any hassle, victims will trust app completely if
bugs and errors are fixed and will be always reliable.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the Safe Patrol app is for everyone who needs direct assistance
when in unsafe situation. Information systems are a integral part of the industry
achieving goals.

Systems such as the feedback analysis system and bugs and

error detection system ensure that the application is constantly up to date.

However this application is assured to fulfil our vision as it does provide
suitability to all people in a unsafe situation.
