This weekly e-mail highlights interesting internship opportunities and other important information that will
aid you in securing an internship! The internships listed below are just a sampling of what is available. For

CAREER FEST
Career Fest 2010, February 1-5, a week of events for USC students centered on topics related to
work, career and the economy engaging the entire university community. Whether you are a
freshman and have not decided your major, a sophomore/junior thinking about internships or a senior
about to graduate we have an event for you! The week will include panels, discussions, workshops and
networking events hosted by departments across the USC campus. For more information and full list of

CAREER CENTER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS


The Career Planning & Placement Center is offering two great summer internship programs for 2010,
Dream Dollars and The Scheyer Family Scholarship.

The Dream Dollars Program is a unique “scholarship” program for undergraduates. The USC Dream
Dollars Program provides stipends for USC students who receive internships with a non-profit or
government organization. This program will support students hoping to gain work experience from an
unpaid internship. Students will be selected through an application and interview process. All internships
must be a minimum of six weeks during the summer. The program provides a stipend of $1,200 for each
student. For more information please stop by the Internship Programs Office in STU B-1or attend one of
our Dream Dollars Information Sessions on either February 9th or 16th, 12-12:30pm or March 2nd, 1-
1:30pm in STU B-3.

The Scheyer Family Scholarship for Summer Interns, established in December of 2007, will provide an
award of $2,500.00 to two students enrolled in approved summer internships. Preference will be given to
sophomores, juniors or seniors with demonstrated financial need. Student recipients must have a major in
the USC College of Letters, Arts & Sciences and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students
must be in good academic standing and must have a graduation date between December 2010 and May
2013. Students must have an internship prior to applying for this scholarship. For more information please

February 17th in STU B-6 or March 23rd, 12-12:30pm in STU B-3.
COMPANY PROFILE EVENTS
During the academic semesters, we invite employers to conduct company presentations. We strongly
recommend that you attend these information sessions to learn about different industries and
organizations, as well as meet some of their key employees. Over the next week UBS, Bain & Co.,
Barclays Capital, Moss Adams, Yahoo! (Non-Technical) and JP Morgan Chase will be on campus

Federal labor law requires that students participating in an internship must either A) be paid by the
employer; or, B) be enrolled in an internship for-credit course. Do you have an unpaid internship and

PAID INTERNSHIPS
 JPMorgan – Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program
J.P. Morgan helps the world’s most prominent companies solve problems and seize opportunities, by
raising capital or shaping corporate strategy and structure. Investment Banking is the first point of
contact for most clients, which include multinational corporations, governments, financial
institutions, private equity firms and institutional investors. As a Summer Analyst, you will have a
unique opportunity to see what investment banking at J.P. Morgan is really all about. As an integral
part of a team, you are expected to make a personal impact right from the start. After orientation, you
will get on-the-job training and networking opportunities throughout the summer, while working on
the biggest deals in investment banking and handling real responsibilities during your 8 to 10 week
internship. As an Investment Banking Summer Analyst, your responsibilities may include, but are not
limited to: Performing financial valuation, discounted cash flow and multiples-based analyses;
Building and using financial models; Preparing presentation materials and participating in deal
pitches; Conducting industry and product research; Executing client transactions from start to closing.
The work is fast-paced, demanding and intellectually stimulating. We look for candidates with
excellent quantitative, analytical and communication skills. Candidates must demonstrate academic
strength (minimum GPA of 3.2), strong teamwork, communication skills and a high energy level.
This position is open to undergraduate students graduating between December 2010 and May 2011.

 Honda R&D Americas, Inc. – Advanced Product Planning & Market Research Intern
Discover how product planning and market research affect concept and design development with a
world leader in the automotive industry. Honda R&D Americas, Inc. has a great local internship
opportunity at our Torrance location for students interested in learning how market research activities
are integrated into the automobile product planning and concept development process.
Responsibilities will include: - Interacting with working development teams/analysts and
management - Assisting with primary and secondary research activities as part of consumer insights
and strategic planning functions - Aiding in obtaining data from secondary sources -Conducting
competitive intelligence -Assisting in creating research plans and methodology for executing primary

 Daily Trojan – Various Positions


The Daily Trojan is looking for writers, photographers, designers, artists and copy editors who want
experience in a professional environment. Earn high-quality samples by working for USC's award-
winning newspaper. As USC's student newspaper, the Daily Trojan is a crucial news source on
campus and in the USC community, and stories are routinely linked or picked up by leading blogs,
newspapers and TV outlets, including KABC, the Los Angeles Times and ESPN. The Daily Trojan is
not only a great place to learn about the USC community and cultivate relationships with local and
university leaders, but also a great place to build transferable skills. Enhance your communication and

 Roswell Park Cancer Institute – Summer Research Program


If scientific research and a PhD degree are your career goals, come to Buffalo, NY this summer and
learn at the world’s first comprehensive cancer center. Plan now to be part of Roswell Park Cancer
Institute’s 58th Sumer Program. Conduct a research project in molecular-cellular biology, genetics,
immunology, biophysics, biochemistry, pharmacology or bioinformatics. Attend classes and seminars
taught by a faculty of internationally-known scientists. Present your research findings at a science
conference and poster sessions. Out-of-town students stay in a supervised local college dormitory two
miles from Roswell Park. College students receive a generous stipend, no room fees, and some

 BANDAI – Summer Internship Program (Tokyo, Japan)
As one of the world's leading toy companies, Bandai is constantly searching for new ways to

NAMCO BANDAI Games is proud to announce the initiation of a summer internship program. This
internship program will give highly motivated individuals a chance to work at one of the biggest
game developers in Japan. NAMCO BANDAI Games focuses primarily on the creation of video
games and other forms of electronic entertainment. There are several different internship positions

UNPAID INTERNSHIPS
 Westin Bonaventure Hotel – Accounting Intern
We have an immediate opening in our Accounting Department (maximum of 2 interns). This
internship is non paid, and require school credit. This is a great learning opportunities as we are the

 Epiphany Channel – Intern


Need an intern/assistant to help author writing book for Random House with organization,
scheduling, copy editing. There is also a website with project, so online media marketing via social
networks and web development is needed. Many of the interviews are being filmed and edited and
put up on website - so if you are familiar with shooting, editing and want to assist with interviews,
there is always room for that, too...this is a new company with tons of room for growth and I am
looking for creative, ambitious, smart , detail-oriented self-motivators with their own ideas and who
want to learn and grow and are excited about learning many different avenues of entertainment from
writing a book to filmmaking to web design and marketing...there's a lot to do - but it's fun! and

 Epiphany Channel – Editor/Filmmaker Intern


Need creative editors to edit 3-8 minute interviews that will appear on a website. Also will be cutting
trailers for project. Also am looking for someone who might be interested in shooting and directing
spots and being involved in development of project. Qualifications: Creative, Have to be very
familiar/efficient with Final Cut. Interested in project (please go check out website). Experience in
cutting interviews and trailers. Interested in developing style and content with filmmaker/author.

 Wendy Finerman Productions – Development Intern


Wendy Finerman Productions (Forrest Gump, The Devil Wears Prada, P.S. I Love You) is looking
for responsible, motivated interns for the winter/spring semester to help with development. This
position is unpaid but can offer school credit. Applicants should have a strong interest in development
and/or production as you will be working closely with the VP
of development. Basic duties include reading incoming submissions, providing script coverage,
Internet research for upcoming projects, helping with basic office tasks (phones, copies, etc). This is a
great opportunity for someone who is eager to learn the ins and outs of feature film development.

 NFL Network – Public Relations Intern


Gain valuable learning experience in public and media relations, media services, network
programming, digital media and publicity. Develop a joint understanding of media relations in
television, internet and sports industry. Contribute to the writing, editing and researching of press
releases for promotion of NFL Network and NFL.com programming and on-air talent. Must show an
exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in every project, large or small. Supported by 3 PR
staffers, coordinate daily NFL Network information collection that is sent to NFL Communications
and NFL Network personnel. Support updating of NFL Network media site on NFLmedia.com,
including posting update biographical information and photos of NFL Network talent. Contribute to
the monitoring and quote collection & distribution of marquee NFL Network and NFL.com
programming, including NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football live primetime game slate. Monitor
and recognize insightful and noteworthy quotes from NFL Network on-air personalities & NFL.com
stories for distribution to print and online media. Assist with all assets of the public relations
campaign for "Keep Gym In School," the network’s community and affiliate relations initiative. This

FELLOWSHIPS
Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship
The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship is a competitive national program that provides college
graduates the opportunity to work in Washington, DC, with one of twenty-five participating public-
interest organizations focusing on international security issues. The program has awarded 124
fellowships since its inception in 1987 and is offered twice yearly, in the spring and fall. It lasts from six
to nine months and provides a stipend, health insurance, and travel costs to Washington. The Scoville
Fellowship does not award grant or scholarship money to students. Scoville Fellows may undertake a
variety of activities, including research, writing, and advocacy in support of the goals of their host
organization and may attend coalition meetings, policy briefings, and Congressional hearings. Fellows
have written fact sheets, letters to the editor, op-eds, articles, briefing books and reports, organized talks
and conferences, and been interviewed as experts by the media. Many former Scoville Fellows work for
U.S. and international NGOs, the Federal Government, and academia, or attend graduate school in
political science or international relations, following their fellowships. The application requirements are
listed on the website, as are links to the websites of each of the participating groups and information on
the work of current and former Scoville Fellows. Applications must be submitted via email. The next
application deadline is January 22 for the Fall 2010 Fellowship. All U.S. citizens, and foreign nationals

Humanity in Action Fellowship
HIA invites applications from college students (current sophomores, juniors, and seniors) and recent
graduates (classes of 2008 and 2009) who are intellectually gifted, mature, independent, of diverse
backgrounds, and passionate about human rights and social justice. The HIA summer fellowship
programs bring together international groups of Fellows to study minority rights and human rights
doctrines in democratic societies. Separate programs will take place for five weeks in Amsterdam, Berlin,
Copenhagen, Lyon, New York, and Warsaw. Intensive and demanding, the HIA fellowship features daily
lectures and discussions with renowned academics, journalists, politicians, and activists, as well as a
significant number of site visits to government agencies, non-profit and community organizations,
museums, and memorials. The programs require a great deal of intellectual curiosity and stamina, as well
as the ability to work effectively in international teams. After the summer programs, Fellows are expected
to participate in HIA's international network of alumni and to sustain their engagement in the human
rights issues addressed during the HIA fellowship. There are also a number of professional fellowship
opportunities available for HIA alumni—such as internship programs run by HIA in the U.S. Congress,
European Parliament, and community organizations in San Francisco. HIA Fellows are also frequently
selected for further post-graduate fellowships, with large numbers of Marshall, Mitchell, Fulbright,
Watson and Presidential Management Fellows among HIA alumni. This is a wonderful opportunity for

The Thomas Jefferson Fellowship


The Center for Fiscal Accountability (CFA), a project line at Americans for Tax Reform, is offering a
graduate student (or very qualified undergraduate student) the opportunity to work independently in the
area of federal and state fiscal and regulatory policy and in collaboration with prominent experts and
institutions in the field as this year’s “Thomas Jefferson Fellow.” The primary task during the fellow’s
time is to work on CFA’s annual study, the “Cost of Government Day® Report.” Previously a project line
of the Americans for Tax Reform Foundation, the annual study calculates the date of the calendar year,
counting from January 1, on which the average American has earned enough in cumulative gross income
to pay for his or her share of government spending (total federal, state, and local) plus the cost of
regulation. It will be the role of the fellow to conduct the 2010 study and to research and write case

fellowship takes place during the spring and summer months and varies in duration from 5 to 7 months.
Only one fellow is selected each session from a highly competitive field of candidates. The fellow
receives a$2,000 stipend each month. In addition, the individual receives a one-time travel and housing
stipend of $2,000. Applications from graduate student (or very qualified undergraduate student) must be
received by February 5, 2010 for immediate consideration for a fellowship during the 2010
spring/summer session. The target start date for the fellowship is March 1, 2010. For application

Securities and Exchange Commission 2010 Summer Business Honors Program


The SEC's mission is to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate
capital formation. The agency seeks high-caliber professionals who share the same values of integrity,
fairness, accountability, resourcefulness, teamwork, and commitment to excellence. The Summer Honors
Business Program gives graduate and JD/MBA students the opportunity to become acquainted with the
regulation of the securities markets and the activities of the Commission. Students from graduate schools
across the country work at the Commission's Washington, DC, Headquarters and in a number of our
