TITLE:

Daily Preventive Maintenance Inspection on the Mirrlees Blackstone and Auxiliaries

PURPOSE:

To inform or make supervisors or engineers aware of the daily status of plant and
equipment

SCOPE:

It begins with the issuing of the daily preventative maintenance inspection sheet to
the signing off of the same by Engineers and applies only for Canefield Power
Station

Fault Reporting Books.
J/W - Jacket water
V/C - Valve Cage
L/O - Lube Oil
L/H - Left Hand
R/H - Right Hand

DETAILS OF PROCEDURE:
6.1
In the morning the mechanical and the electrical supervisors will issue the sheet to
journeyman who is highlighted to take the present check and record accordingly on
the daily preventative maintenance check sheet of the plant and auxiliaries
6.1.1

Check for J/W and V/c leaks.

6.1.2. Check for fuel leaks.

6.1.3

Check for L/O leaks.

6.1.4

Check for air leaks.

6.1.5

Listen for unusual sounds

6.1.6

Check turbo speed and air pressure. check if balance and record the same.

6.1.7

Check V/C pump and cooler for leaking gland and seals

6.1.8

Check L/O filters for leaks on pipes and covers. Record if L/H or R/H filter is
in service and differential pressure

6.1.6

Check L/O purifier for oil leaks and sump level

6.2.1

Check all transfer pumps for leaks on pipes and gland seal

6.2.3

Check air compressor both mechanical and electrical for the following;
6.2.3.1 sump oil level

6.2.3.2 belt drive tension and alignment

6.2.3.3 operating condition
6.2.3.4 air leaks
6.2.4

Check duplex strainer for inlet, outlet pressure and leaks

6.2.5

Check grease pump for the following;

6.2.5.1 leaking glands
6.2.5.2 Thrust bearing oil level or if it needed grease.
6.2.5.3 Vibration
6.2.5.4 holding down bolts tightness
6.2.5.5 grease line leaks
6.2.5.6 grease element or lubricator and ensure that element is pumping

6.2.6

Journeyman after carrying out checks listed above will then present the daily
preventative check sheet to their supervisor in which he will check to find if
there is any defects on plant and equipment.

6.2.7

Supervisor will check and conform before the sign off of the sheet and
present it to the Maintenance Engineer or Senior Diesel Generation Engineer

6.2.8

If there is fault that needs urgent attention then with the permission of the
Maintenance Engineer or Senior Diesel Generation Engineer the plant or
equipment is given prior to do repairs

6.2.9

Maintenance Engineer or Senior Diesel Generation Engineer then sign off the
sheet and it is return to the supervisors to keep as further reference
