The Alcatel-Lucent 7500 Serving GRPS Support Node (SGSN) performs mobility and IP packet session
management in 3GPP packet networks, routing user packet traffic from the radio access network to the
appropriate Gateway GPRS Service Node (GGSN), and providing subscriber access to external packet data
networks such as the Internet, intranets and extranets. Central to the Alcatel-Lucent end-to-end GPRS/EDGE
and W-CDMA/HSPA wireless packet core, the 7500 SGSN addresses the capacity and scalability required to
support rapid data-traffic growth in 2.5G, 3G and 3G+ networks. Based on an industry-standard Advanced
Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA) platform and multi-core network processors, the 7500 SGSN
delivers carrier-grade performance, reliability, scalability and flexibility.
