Draft Plan - Sub Theme C - Nutrition and Food Security

Preambulatory Clauses:
1. Acknowledging the fact, although unwanted, of the existence of fortuitous events
such as typhoons, cyclones, tsunami, landslide, flood, economic depression, war
and other circumstances same as those already mentioned,
2. Alarmed by the continuous increase of prices of food commodities resulting to the
lack or insufficiency of resources to purchase food for consumption,
3. Emphasizing the unavailability of infrastructure which, if provided, would lead to
the smooth transfer of food products from the producers to the consumers,
4. Noting, with deep concern, the absence of accessibility and availability of food,
both in rural and urban places,
5. Stressing the outdated agricultural and livelihood technology and facilities,
affecting foremost, the farmers and fishermen of the said industry,
6. Alarmed by the gradual increase of level of hunger due to food shortage,
7. Grieved by the sudden increase of mortality rate caused by different health risks
attained from overconsumption,
8. Mindful that a sustainable world can be made possible by its healthy citizens by
being aware of the nutrient information thus preventing overconsumption,
9. Realizing that continuous overproduction can lead to excessive human
consumption of goods,
10. Recognizing the large amount of food wastage and spoilage due to excessive food
production,
11. Taking note of the uneven distribution of food with concern to self-indulgence
which results to the deprivation of food to other people,
12. Alarmed at how the public is not fully aware of the nutritional value of the food
they consume,

13. Alarmed by the deceiving business techniques companies are using to sell their
products,
14. Aware of the lack of nutrition of mothers and their children,
15. Concerned at the lack of land and equipment of farmers to continue the
production of crops,
16. Guided by the basic rights of consumers to basic needs, healthy living and
consumer education,
17. Knowing that having a dietary meal that completes all the needed nutrients is vital
to healthy living,
18. Noting that majority of the people around the world do not have access to healthy
food,
19. Recognizing that the consumption of food is greater than the production of food.

Operative Clauses:
1. Adopts an individualistic approach of preparation towards a catastrophe; make
sure that each individual is aware of important precautionary measures in dealing
with fortuitous events;
2. Calls upon government leaders to work with private sectors to craft new policies
and measures concerning food security and nutrition in order to control the prices
of commodities and promote stability;
3. Endorses to the proper authorities the creation, development, maintenance and
preservation of suitable infrastructure to achieve food security such as roads,
bridges, cold storage plants, water supply facilities, markets and the like;
4. Endorses the maximization of the agricultural potentials of the member countries
of the United Nations by aggressively promoting and hosting agricultural and
livelihood researches, trainings and exchange programs;
5. Strongly recommends to the government and other agencies to provide subsidy
and assistance to farmers and fishermen in order encourage them and ensure
stable production;
6. Emphasizes negative effects of overconsumption;
7. Promotes global sharing of excess and spare resources;

8. Recommends continuous and regular partnership between a public nutritionist for


specific communities and global citizens;
9. Strongly recommends that there should be a limit of raw materials delivered by the
producers to the various food manufacturers;
10. Suggests that the wasted amounts of food should be used as organic fertilizers to
produce crops;
11. Urges crop planting in different organizations (e.g. schools, corporations, etc.) as
their regular public service;
12. Calls upon the need for the education of farmers in techniques that will better
improve their efficiency in growing crops;
13. Declares accordingly the importance of educating consumers that GMOs are safe,
economical and healthy;
14. Emphasizes the empowering of small farmers so that more organic products may
be accessible to the public;
15. Encourages the requirement of regions or provinces to allot land area dedicated to
agricultural development;
16. Urges Government Health Care systems the prioritization of the proper nutrition
of mothers and children during the childs first 1000 days;
17. Recommends the use of food stubs in government supported public cafeterias to
guarantee that people receive a meal complete in nutrients;
18. Promotes the importance of vitamins and minerals that humans need for their
health;
19. Provides farmers with necessary materials needed to farm efficiently;
20. Recommends opening more programs to the public to make them aware of the
importance of eating healthy;
21. Recommends to the consumers the importance of consuming less than what can be
produced;
22. Suggests to the government to incorporate the idea of food stubs so that the
marginalized in society may be able to receive a healthy meal each day;
23. Urges to orient business owners the importance of ethical advertisement to
correctly provide information on their product;

24. Urges scientists to research on a super crop that can supply the vitamins and
minerals that each human needs.
