HOMEWORK # 1
Job Hazard Analysis
Job: Plant a mango seedling- 2ft. tall ready for planting
STEPS

HAZARDS

1. Choose one from

many varieties of
mangoes.

2. Determine what kind

of soil and climate
that will fit for the
mango seedling to
grow.
3. Buy the 2 ft. tall tree
that has no damage
(e.g. on trunks) and
free from pests.

The availability of the

chosen variety of the
seedling in your
place.
Not determining and
wrong research of soil
and climate will not
make the seedling
grow.
If not checked
properly, the tree may
not grow and will not
be healthy.

CONTROL MEASURES

4. Choose an area where

you can plant.

5. Get all the right

materials needed for
planting.

Area is not big

enough for the plant
to grow. Some
properties will be
damaged in a small
area.

Not getting the right

materials may leave
damage in the
process and in the
plant as well.
Accidents may
happen if youre not
using and handling
the materials
properly.

Research on the
varieties of mangoes
that best fits your
place.
Ask a professional or
someone who knows
about mango
planting.
Check carefully when
buying a tree.
Research on what is
best when buying a
nursery tree.
Buy at a verified store
so that you can also
ask questions there.
Have some space
allotted for your plant
to grow.
Its more okay to have
more than less space.
Know how big a
mango tree grows.
Use only the materials
that are needed and
best for the process.
Use only the materials
that youre capable of
and leave the rest to
those who knows to
use the material
really well.

6. Dig a hole in the

soil for the plant to
be placed. (four
times the diameter
and three times
deeper than the
container your tree
is in)

7. Place the plant on the

hole.

8. Using the original soil,

fill up the space
around the roots and
the base of the plant.

9. Water the plant well.

10. Fertilize once a

month.

Getting wounded
while digging a hole
in the soil.
Making the hole too
big or too small from
its appropriate size.

Not holding the plant

properly will make it
bend or even be
broken.

If the space is not

filled up, the plant will
be damaged and will
not grow the way it
has to be.
Putting too much
water will drown the
plant.

Putting too much

fertilizer may affect
the fruit itself and be
bad for our health.

Be careful when doing

such activity, use
protection as much as
possible.
Dig slowly but surely.

Being careful while

putting the plant on
the hole.
Search the proper
way of handling and
planting a plant.
Assure that there will
be no gaps in the soil
and will be filled by
firming the tree with
your foot.
Measure the right
amount of water put
on the plant so that it
will have its right
nutrients to make it
healthy.
Follow the instructions
of the fertilizer and
only put the right
amount to assure the
freshness of the fruit
when it bears.
