Neutral
Earthing Resistor (NER) rated to limit the earth fault current to 50A as per IE Rules. The
NER will
be designed to withstand a fault at the rated current for a period of 10 seconds.
14.5.4 415V Reticulation
Star points of 11kV / 433 Volt distribution transformers will be solidly earthed. 415/220V
single phase
transformers for lighting applications shall have the midpoint earthed.
14.5.5 Motor Control Centres (MCCs)
MCC design shall comply with the requirements of IS 13947.
MCCs will comprise of front access freestanding steel enclosures with fully
compartmentalized
starters and with bottom cable entry to IP54 and will be rated for a short circuit current of
50kA for
1 second.
MCC panels shall be withdrawable or fixed pattern type with provision for positive
isolation.
Every cubicle is to be fitted with earth leakage protection. Circuit breakers rated at 630A
and above
shall be air circuit breakers (ACB). ACBs will be equipped with built-in fault recording,
energy
recording and microprocessor based protocol with LSIG release.
MCCs shall consist of two bus sections and a bus coupler and shall be suitable for future
extension
on both the sides. Switchboards shall be arranged such that there are two incoming
supplies
feeding the two bus sections. Incomers and bus couplers The Neutral point of the

be utilised. Conversion of signal values shall be done in the PLC.
The preferred vendors for intelligent overloads are as follows
Rockwell
Siemens
